How It Looks to Win a Million Dollars

How It Looks to Win a Million Dollars

There are now more lottery winning charts available! New ones being added every day.  Check the sidebar ----->

Before I show you an example of why you absolutely, positively should be reading transits to progressions, let’s take the mystery out of progressions. If you’re learning astrology, you read transits to the natal chart all the time, right? You’ve probably read hundreds of them by now. Well, you read progressions to the natal exactly the same way, except instead of representing one day, they represent one year. Now how hard is that?

The only thing you’ll notice different between transits to the natal, and progressions to the natal, is that in progressions, the outer planets - Jupiter through Pluto - never move more than a couple of degrees from their natal places. Therefore, you don’t even have to bother with them unless they have moved enough to make an exact aspect with another planet or an angle—say within a minute or two of partile (partile means exact). Here’s a list of things to watch for when reading progressions to the natal chart:

1)    The angles. Always the most powerful positions for planets to be in, regardless of which side of it they’re on. Look to see if the progressed Ascendant and progressed Midheaven are making any close aspects to any natal angles, planets, nodes, or points.

2)    Check to see if the progressed personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars) are making any close aspects to any natal angles, planets, nodes, or points.

3)    Check to see if any progressed planets or angles are changing signs or houses.

4)    The Moon is the fastest “planet” in the progressed chart, moving approximately one degree per month. As it moves around the chart and makes aspects to other progressed and natal planets, it activates them.

If you are studying astrology and you don’t own an Ephemeris, you'll need to get one. I personally prefer The American Ephemeris for the 21st Century at Midnight (they also come in Noon varieties) by Neil Michelsen. If you, or anyone whose chart you want to study, was born before 2001, you’ll need one for the 20th Century as well. How are you going to look ahead without one? How are you going to see the eclipses, lunations, planet ingresses and retrograde periods without it?

I've seen some crazy prices for these on Amazon. Shop carefully, or better yet, buy them from your local brick and mortar bookstore for around $20.

There’s another very helpful predictive method similar to Secondary Progressions called Solar Arc Directions. They are read the same way, and they are also for one year. The difference between progressions and directions is:

  • Secondary Progressions advance everything in the chart by their individual rates of movement in 24 hours. 1 Day = 1 Year in your life. If you want to know what will happen to you when you are 25, then in your ephemeris, begin counting the day after your birth, and stop when you reach 25. Compare the planets positions on that day to your natal planets. There are several places online that will cast your progressed chart for free. Astro.com is very popular, and my personal favorite.

  • Solar Arc Directions advance everything in the chart based on the "movement " of the sun in one day, thus the term Solar Arc.

I probably need to create some posts on progressions and directions, but for now, I only want to whet your appetite and let you see why you should be using them and why you should be reading the transits to them.

Here’s an example, taken from the data files of the late Lois Rodden, who was the High Priestess of Data. This is the natal chart of a man who won a million dollars on a slot machine in Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

THE NATAL CHART

January 17, 1950
4:54 PM
Delano, CA
35N36 119W15

His natal chart is fairly lucky to begin with:

  • Part of Fortune conjunct the Ascendant
  • The North Node conjunct the Midheaven
  • Venus on the cusp of the 8th house, which is the house of “Other People’s Money,” including community property, lotteries, football pools (and the like), taxes, insurance, 401Ks, pensions, social security, welfare, stocks, investments, and inheritance (and I have undoubtedly left out a few).
  • Vertex (a date with destiny) in the 5th house of risks and gambles (also known as the house of children, creativity, hobbies, entertainment, vacations, romances, and taking chances).
  • The chart is full of sextiles and trines with only one square (between Saturn and Chiron), and one opposition (between Retrograde Venus and Pluto). Ah! But notice that the opposition lies across the cusps of the 2nd house of money and the 8th house of Other People’s Money.
Does that mean if your chart has more squares and oppositions and fewer trines and sextiles that you can’t be as lucky? No, it doesn’t.

TRANSITING PLANETS TO THE NATAL CHART

July 18, 1981
00:45 MDT
Lake Tahoe, NV
39N01 119W57

Above are the transits to the natal chart at the time and place he won.

Outlined in teal blue, notice the transiting Sun conjunct the natal Ascendant. Whenever the Sun transits the Ascendant, it’s like getting a second birthday that year.

Outlined in purple, the transiting Moon conjoined natal Jupiter, the Santa Claus of the zodiac, the planet of bigger, better, more, expansion, excess, hope, optimism, and joy.

Outlined in pink, transiting Venus was just a hair past the conjunction to the natal Pluto / Venus opposition. I can hear you now: “But oppositions aren’t good!” That’s part of the art of interpretation. Venus activated that opposition across the two money houses, and you can see the result.

Venus also squares Chiron in the 11th house of sudden surprises and changes in fortune. Study Chiron if you wish, but I am still unconvinced as to its true meaning. I know it is activated regularly in all kinds of charts, and in all kinds of ways, so I use it to see what occurs with it. Maybe someday it will hit me and I’ll go voila! (I did go voila! while researching the book! Keep using Chiron.)

To read about Chiron and Winning, click here:

In red, transiting Mars conjoined Uranus, which happens to be the ruler of the 8th house of Other People’s Money, as well as the dispositor of both benefics, Venus and Jupiter.

Outlined in yellow, transiting Jupiter, transiting Saturn, and the transiting Vertex (date with destiny) conjoined the natal Mars, which happens to be the ruler of the Midheaven (the limelight, the public perception of us, and our path in life). It also co-rules the 5th house of gambling and chances.

Circled n turquoise, transiting Uranus, the planet of rock and roll; changes in fortune, of the sudden, unexpected and accidental; the one that never conforms and always shakes things up, is in the 5th house of gambling and chances, and trines the natal ascendant, where the transiting Sun is providing a "second birthday."

Finally, the transiting Ascendant and East Point (personal matters that take place in public) conjoined the winner’s Midheaven in lime green. Remember that events in the life will be reflected in the natal chart at least three ways (the more, the better). This chart shows eight ways that July 18, 1981 was a lucky day for this man.

But...would you look at those charts and know that he was going to win a bunch of money? Maybe if he had been playing golf, he would have made a hole-in-one. Maybe if he had been fishing, he would have caught a blue marlin. Maybe it was his wedding day. How do you look at the chart and see beyond the “lucky day” to“lucky how?”

That’s where progressions come in. For an event in the life to manifest, the chart must reflect it in at least three ways. When it is found in the progressions and directions, that is further confirmation, and helps you to narrow down what will happen.

THE SECONDARY PROGRESSED CHART

Here is the progressed chart of our winner. What stands out?

There is a yod between Pluto (planet of wealth and power; also a ruler of an angle -- the I.C.), Neptune  (planet of fairy tales and dreams; also the ruler of the 8th house), and the Moon (in the 8th house). Yods are considered to be the Hand of God or Finger of Fate by most astrologers.

Because the Moon rules the 12th house of confinement and seclusion, maybe the man needed surgery that year (8th house / 12th house matters). Especially since Saturn is opposed to the Moon (a boomerang yod) and rules his 6th house of health and employment. We don’t know that this did or didn't happen, but it is not mentioned in the Lois Rodden data base.

There is also a trine between Jupiter (bigger, better, more) which is conjunct an angle, and Neptune  (planet of “is it real?”) which is the ruler of the 8th house. Besides being the house of Other People’s Money, the 8th is also the house of surgery. The trine from Jupiter would indicate a good outcome.

Let’s see what happens when we place these progressions around the natal chart.

SECONDARY PROGRESSIONS TO THE NATAL CHART

The very first thing that caught my attention (in purple), was progressed Jupiter (bigger, better, more) conjunct natal Venus (the Planet of Pleasant: money, love, beauty, harmony, happiness). That is definitely confirmation of the financial gain indicated by the transits.

Venus is the Lesser Benefic and Jupiter is the Greater Benefic.

Benefic: doing or promoting some good;
beneficent: a benefic truce; a benefic confluence of planets.

And where are they? On the cusp of the 8th house of Other People’s Money. Planets tend to gain strength when they are on a house cusp, particularly in the Porphyry house system.

Next, in hot pink, is the progressed Moon at the apex of the yod opposing the natal (and progressed) Saturn. There are other aspects involving Saturn that we’ll talk about later.

In teal blue, the progressed Mars conjoined the South Node of the Moon, and the South Node of the Moon conjoined Mars. They are right on the cusp of the Nadir, which makes them angular, and therefore, strong. Mars is the ruler of the Midheaven (public standing) and co-ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Finally, in yellow, the progressed East Point (personal matters that take place in public) trines the natal Vertex (date with destiny) in the 5th house.

TRANSITS TO THE PROGRESSED CHART

Here is what catches the eye first: Circled in hot pink, transiting Venus, the Lesser Benefic (Planet of Pleasant: money, love, beauty, harmony, happiness) is conjunct the progressed Ascendant (you, here and now).

Outlined in teal blue, transiting Jupiter (Greater Benefic, bigger, better, more) and Saturn (responsibility, ambition, tradition, structure) and the Vertex (date with destiny) all conjunct the progressed South Node (reaping what you’ve sown) in the 2nd house of money.

In a kind of periwinkle color, transiting Neptune (“Is it real?”) conjoins progressed Chiron (triumphant ascendancy) on the cusp of the 5th house of gambling and chances.

In orange, the transiting Midheaven (being in the public eye) is conjunct the progressed Vertex (date with destiny), also in the 5th house of gambling.

In yellow, the transiting South Node (reaping what you’ve sown) is:
  • Conjunct progressed Venus (sugar and spice and all that's nice), which is the ruler of the progressed Midheaven (public eye)
  • Conjunct progressed Mercury (communication, rational thought), which is the ruler of the 2nd house of money and the 11th house of sudden events and changes of fortune..

In turquoise, the transiting East Point (personal matters that take place in public) is conjunct the progressed North Node (another benefic), right on the cusp of the 8th house (Other People’s Money).

And finally, in his favorite color -- red -- Mars (action, initiative) is conjunct Uranus (changes in fortune) in the 11th house of sudden events.

SOLAR ARC DIRECTIONS

This is also a chart that represents one year in the life. Look carefully and you will see that the planets are in exactly the same positions they hold in the natal chart, and they maintain exactly the same relationships (aspects) to each other. What has changed are the degrees and signs they occupy. The degrees and signs on the wheel have changed, too. The reason for this is that everything in the directed chart has been moved by the same rate of speed, which is the rate that the sun moves in one day (therefore, “Solar Arc”).

Now let’s see what happens when we compare these positions to the natal positions.

SOLAR ARC DIRECTIONS TO THE NATAL CHART

Two things jump out at me here. The first, in hot pink, is the directed Venus (Lesser Benefic, money, love, beauty, harmony, happiness) making a nice trine to the natal Part of Fortune.

And then in teal blue, we have natal Saturn under attack from directed Pluto by conjunction, and opposed by directed Venus.

  • Pluto transforms everything it conjuncts, whether by coercion or by force.
  • Saturn represents form and structure.
  • Venus represents everything pleasant.

Keep in mind that aspects can manifest in various ways. Not every aspect at the time of a win is about the win. People still have other things going on in their lives. The reason I'm even mentioning this aspect between these three is that:

  • Pluto rules the 5th house of risks and gambles.
  • Saturn co-rules the 8th house of Other People's Money
  • Venus rules the 11th house of twists of fate and changes in fortune.

Now, while I'm editing this post because Blogger lost all the images in it and I'm having to replace them, notice the directed Sun at 29 degrees (the Do something! degree) in Aquarius trine natal Uranus Rx which is at just one minute less than 2 degrees Cancer. A distance of two degrees and forty minutes. According to The Rules, that's still about two years away. I failed to draw colored lines between them, and I'm sorry about that.

Anyway, the accepted (and often staunchly defended) rule about progressions and directions is that they are only active while they are applying within one degree, exact, and done by the time they reach one degree of separation. Play by the rules if you want, but I color outside the lines and I don't think there's much doubt that the Sun trine Uranus was active in this case.

  • Uranus disposits the Sun.
  • The Sun trines Uranus.
  • The Sun rules the natal 2nd house of money and resources. It's transiting the natal 8th.
  • Uranus rules the natal 8th house of Other People's Money. It's transiting the natal 1st.

Use your own judgment.

In red, the natal Moon is under attack from directed Saturn. I told you earlier that we’d talk more about Saturn.

Every planet has a “positive” side and a “negative” side. The positive use of Saturn is ambition, responsibility, executive ability, and tradition. The negative side brings sorrow, suffering and self-undoing. Saturn isn’t particularly well placed in this chart. For one thing, it’s in the 3rd house of the rational mind and ability to communicate, in the sign of Virgo, which can make it austere, silent, uncommunicative, and highly critical. It’s in mutual reception with Mercury, which doubles those tendencies. He’s smart, there’s no doubt about that; he could even be a doctor or CPA. His is a serious mind. His entire chart has a Capricorn signature, so he has leadership ability, but his personal life may suffer.

Secondly, his Saturn rules the 7th house of marriage and partnership, which shows the area of life where these challenges will be played out (and it co-rules the 8th). The 7th might also represent the public in general.

And finally, his Saturn is opposed by his retrograde Venus in Aquarius. Venus, the planet that describes our loving nature, is not at its warmest in Aquarius. It’s highly independent and needs a lot of freedom. It’s more of a “let’s be friends” type. Couple that with the retrograde tendency to turn things inward, and I’m betting this man is a little hard to get close to.

On top of that, his Ascendant (his outward personality, the way others see him, or the way he wishes to be seen) is in Cancer, which can be domestic-minded, but clingy, moody, and as changeable as the tides. (so a dichotomy compared to his freedom-loving Venus). He has a real affinity to tides, and probably bought a boat with his winnings.

The Moon, ruler of  Cancer, is his chart ruler. It's placed in Capricorn, disposited by Saturn, which is the most difficult sign for the Moon to be in. Those moods can be quite dark, and his emotional nature quite chilly. So now, in this year, he has directed Pluto conjunct his natal Saturn, and Pluto is the Great Eliminator. It removes things from our lives. I cannot be certain because no mention of it was made in the data base from which I fetched this man, but I’m willing to bet that this was a year in which he lost his wife either by death or divorce.

TRANSITS TO SOLAR ARC DIRECTIONS

In the transits, once again, there is Venus (money, love) conjunct the Ascendant (you, here and now).

Outlined in orange, in the 2nd house of money, the transiting Part of Fortune is in a powerful conjunction with Jupiter (bigger, better, more), Saturn (in this case, responsibility, I think), and the Vertex (date with destiny), all in sextile to natal Uranus (sudden changes in fortune). Uranus happens to be conjoined by the North Node (another beneficent) outlined in navy blue.  Notice that Uranus is the ruler of the 7th house of marriage and partnership, and that transiting Uranus squares the directed Moon, ruler of the 12th house of sorrows and seclusion.

The transiting Moon squares the Moon’s Nodes, which are always activated during important events in the life. They represent milestones and turning points, and are associated with fateful events. I'm not sure what color the lines are. A deep red, maybe?

Circled in turquoise, the transiting Midheaven (public image) is in the 5th house of gambling and chances. The transiting Ascendant (you, here and now) and East Point (personal matters that take place in public) are in the 8th house (Other People’s Money), strengthened by being on the house cusp.

And finally, follow the purple line from transiting Mars (action, initiative) to trine the directed Moon, Mercury, and mostly the Sun (37 minutes past exact). The sun is the ruler of the directed Ascendant (you, here and now).

LUNAR ECLIPSE

A Lunar Eclipse at 24 Capricorn 31 occurred on July 16, 1981 at 8:39 PM PDT

Eclipses are powerful triggers of our fate. I won’t say that coincidentally there just happened to be an eclipse only 40 hours before this man won a million dollars, because in astrology, there are no coincidences. Everything happens exactly when it’s meant to happen.

The Lunar Eclipse on July 16, 1981 at 8:39 PM PDT, fell across this man’s Ascendant / Descendant axis, and conjoined his natal Moon, the ruler of his Ascendant. The transiting Sun, ruler of his 2nd house of money conjoined his Ascendant. Transiting Mars, ruler of the Midheaven (limelight, public recognition) conjuncted his natal Uranus, ruler of his 8th house of Other People's Money.

  2. Thanks for sharing such helpful info--it does de-mystify the whole progression/transit thing for me. I have a question that I don't seem to be able to find an answer to on the web--it appears that on/around October 1st I will have transiting & progressed venus conjunt my natal venus @ 22' scorpio in my 9th house. This *seems* like it might be important, but maybe I'm wrong...? Thanks again for your VERY helpful & amusing blog!

  3. You're welcome. Thanks for reading.

I assume you are speaking of secondary progressions (not solar arc directions, but we can talk about those, too, if you'd like).

Only part of your question seems to be possible. Venus returns to its natal place once a year, wherever that may be. You can cast a chart for your Venus Return and read it similarly to the way you would read a solar or lunar return, except of course, you'll be looking at Venus, the house it falls into, and the houses that it rules - those with Taurus and Libra on the cusps. If you'd like me to cast that chart and email it to you no charge, send your data and email address to me at astrologymemphis@gmail.com.

A Venus Return is a good time to test your luck quotient IF Venus is well aspected by other transiting planets that day, and if it is well placed, and if it rules the right houses...

If it receives difficult aspects from other transiting planets, then you might want to hang onto your money and your heart. If testing your luck is your goal, don't discount the DAY BEFORE the exact conjunction, or you could miss the boat!

Now - about that progressed Venus. That's not as likely. I don't know your data but progressed Venus should be about as many degrees from its own natal position as you are years old, because it moves about a degree per day, and in progressions 1 day = 1 year. There might be an exception to that rule of thumb if either your natal or progressed Venus is retrograde.

    Does that help?

  4. Thank you for the speedy response & yes it was helpful! I will email my data to you but I suppose I should have mentioned that my natal venus is indeed retro.

  6. Great analysis, I love lottery winner astro breakdowns like this.

I have recently become very interested in this subject of potential lottery transits, and I wanted to share an upcoming transit that I actually stumbled upon over a month ago by accident. I think it has HUGE potential for me, and wanted to share to see if we really can predict a lotto win AHEAD of time.

So the transit I found (pretty much by accident) is on Oct. 29th, 2014. I originally was just looking at the day for another reason, but after I realized what was happening that day astrologically in relation to my natal planets, I looked at the transits for 9:10pm in Toronto, Canada, because that is the exact draw time for lotto 6/49, which I will of course be buying tickets for.

Now here are the aspects that will be occurring to my natal chart during the draw:

    - Transiting Jupiter conjunct my Natal Moon (11th house) within 22 minutes applying

    - Transiting Uranus conjunct my Natal Sun (7th house) within 19 minutes separating

    - Transiting AC will be conjunct my Natal MC 1 degree 5 mins applying

    - Transiting Sun and Venus will BOTH be conjunct my Natal Jupiter (2nd house) 21 minutes and 1 degree 34 mins respectively, both applying

    - Transiting Part of Fortune will be conjunct my Natal Sun too (along with Uranus) 45 mins

    - Transiting Mercury and North Node will both be conjunct my Natal Saturn (1st house) 58 mins and 10 mins applying respectively

    - Transiting Vertex will be conjunct my Jupiter/Uranus Midpoint (2nd house) 39 mins applying

    - Transiting Saturn will also be conjunct my Jupiter/Uranus Midpoint 2 degrees 33 mins separating (Saturn will also be conjunct my Natal Ceres 2 degrees 14 mins applying)

    - Both transiting Neptune and transiting MC will be squaring my Natal Uranus 32 mins applying and 11 mins separating respectively

    - Transiting Mars will be conjunct my natal Jupiter/Venus Midpoint (9 mins applying)and opposing my MC 40 mins separating

So needless to say my jaw hit the floor when I saw these transits!!! To have roughly 95% of the transiting planets in very tight orb conjunctions with that many auspicious natal points and planets has got to amount to something!

    1. I love to look ahead in the ephemeris. One time, many years ago, while looking ahead, I saw that my transits were absolutely fantastic the day AFTER Christmas at a future date. I thought, hmmm, Christmas is on Thursday and payday is on Friday, so maybe I just have to wait an extra day to get some really great present that I'm going to be thrilled about. Either that, or because of all the aspects to Mars, my husband was getting me a gym membership and I'd have to kick his ass. It didn't matter because I could see from the transits that I was going to be VERY excited about it and that it would be worth the wait. In between that time and the future Christmas, I had some really hard transits - like Pluto conjunct natal Saturn and transiting Saturn opposed to both, as well as Uranus squaring my natal moon. A LOT happened. I knew it was going to be hard, but I had no idea that a year later my life wouldn't even be recognizable. I could never in a million years have foretold what that future December 26th would bring.

As it turned out, I got to spend several hours with an old friend who had meant the world to me about thirty-five years before but that I had lost touch with. Not only was it amazing to spend time with him, but he was the one and only person who could provide the answers to questions I'd needed desperately to know for thirty-five years, and he answered every one of them. To this day (and the rest of my life, I'm sure), I still think of it as one of the happiest days of my life and just remembering it brings happy tears.

I wish you had provided your birth data (you could email it to me if you prefer to keep it private). Your aspects are very good, and I hope there will be enough of them to do the trick. Best of luck! Please come here and gloat if you win!

    2. I've been analysing this to death and am very much anticipating 3 weeks from now when the draw happens. I have also analysed my secondary progressed chart and my Solar Arc chart and there are definitely some things happening to back up the transits.

In my secondary progressed chart for that day I have a Grand Trine with Uranus, Venus, and the MC, which is applying and will last for another year or so to come. Plus I have a tight orb (12 mins applying) Pluto/AC conjunction indicating something very transformative in my life (and my Natal Pluto is quite well aspected in my chart - weak trine to MC, Trine to Venus, Sextile to Neptune). My progressed Sun forms sesquiquadrates and semi-squares with ALL the angles in my chart, and the progressed Moon is 5 mins from entering a new sign and will go on to conjunct progressed Jupiter in the following months.

Then there is my Solar Arc chart. The aspects that stood out there for the day of the draw are:

      - SA Saturn conjunct my natal Jupiter/Uranus Midpoint 7 mins applying

      - SA Mercury opposite my natal Jupiter 16 mins applying

      - SA North Node conjunct my natal Moon 11 mins applying

      - SA Ceres conjunct natal Neptune 39 mins separating

      - SA Uranus squaring natal Mercury 6 mins separating

      - SA Pluto squaring natal Venus 8 mins separating

      - And most people don't count easy aspects in Solar Arc charts because it is the "hard" SA aspect that tend to make things happen; however, my SA MC is forming a grand trine with natal Vertex and natal Uranus - 1 min separating and 33 mins applying respectively.

The only thing that concerns me is the square from transiting Neptune to my natal Uranus, as that can denote delusional fantasies (and with these kinds of transits I am seriously going to be surprised if SOMETHING big doesn't happen).

Just wanted to share and document this, as I think it is interesting and exciting purely from an astrological point of view to see what happens...

Thank you for your story though, as I know that sometimes transits manifest in very unexpected ways!

I will email you my birth data...

  7. Great post, I have had it saved in my Favourites for a while now!
I have so many aspects occurring on a date when a large prize draw is taking place in mid-late December (via transits, progressed, solar arc & solar return), not just between planets, but also with house angles and asteroids. My husband also has a lot of aspects then. We have a lot of Venus and Jupiter and Uranus involvement (Venus is my chart ruler & Dispositor) as well as my Sun (which is currently conjunct both my SA Asc & Prog Venus, and is also conjunct my 2nd house cusp natally); also Part of Fortune, 2nd/8th cusps, 11th house, 5th house, Saturn, Mars, Neptune, MC, ASC and others - even Chiron and Juno get a look-in there. And they are all mostly really tight aspects, too, not 2 degrees; more like 10-15 minutes for many of them.
I also had my 3rd child recently (we got pregnant 9 months earlier than planned - thank you natal Ceres in the 4th with so many transiting aspects to Venus, Jupiter, Saturn & Uranus!) and I had been wondering a while back what big thing was going to happen then as my Progressed Venus (natally retrograde & in the 2nd house conjunct Uranus, both in Scorpio) was conjunct my Natal Sun AND SA Ascendant. So it turns out I had a baby! Ha ha. Also had SA Jupiter exactly sextile my Natal Venus at that time.
Anyway, I will try to come back and post what happened re this prize draw. If we win big, I'll email you our charts and you can use them as another example! If nothing happens at all, I think I might actually be disappointed! Not because we don't win, but because there are SO many things going on, something has to happen!

  8. Hi, Dr. Stephenson. Thanks for writing. It's always hard for me to envision a chart without the birth data, but it sounds as if you have a great grasp on lottery astrology. The chart in this post is so dated; truth be told it was never even meant to be about lottery winning. I was on my high horse because I disagreed with a trusted "expert" who I felt was misleading noobs who were trying to learn. In the past couple of years I've cast over 200 winning lottery charts (and written a manual about them that it seems will never be published now) to find the repetitive pattern that appears in every chart. Here's a bit of info that might help you.

    1. Make sure you use the Porphyry house system. It has very sensitive cusps. When a planet crosses one, it will activate that house.

    2. Venus rarely has much to do with winning charts unless it rules one of the money or risk houses, or as in your case, is the chart ruler, final dispositor, in mutual reception with a certain and particular planet, or rules the midheaven. May I ask when looking at your natal chart, in the rising order of the personal planets Sun, Mercury, Venus, which rises first? With Venus prominent in your chart, did it influence the type of doctor you became? Just curious.

    3. Don't overlook the importance of Chiron. It's the "Cinderella planet." Also, include the eastpoint because it indicates personal matters that take place in public, which in most cases, represents what happens when winning. There are a couple of other points that are essential, but my downfall in life seems to be that I give away everything that could benefit me instead of using my hard work to my own advantage. I resolve to change that in the new year.

I wish you the very best of luck and will be rooting for you! I also want to say that I am always impressed when someone of your education is so fluent in astrology. Whenever a person in a highly-respected scientific field accepts the value of its influence, it lends credibility to the art. Best wishes! If you win, I hope you'll consider sharing your birth data for research.

    1. Thanks for the pointers! Moving to the Porphyry system reduces the connections in my chart, but seems to increase them in my husband's chart! For the 21st Dec 2017, I personally like transiting Venus directly conjunct my husband's natal MC & directly trine his Prog ASC - which in turn is almost exactly conjunct the transiting Uranus/Pallas conjunction in Aries in the 2nd house of the Prize Draw Event chart. And this transiting Uranus/Pallas combo is right on my husband's natal 2nd house cusp (with Porphyry system), directly opposite his natal Pluto, which is a whisper shy of his 8th house cusp. Then again, he also has Jupiter natally in Scorpio in the 8th house! Also, transiting Sun is trine my husband's 1st/5th/9th houses in his SA chart. Also the Part of Fortune in the Event chart (which conveniently sits RIGHT on the 2nd house cusp in Aries, that's too funny!) is exactly trine his SA Jupiter (which is in Sag in the SA 8th). Then his SA Uranus (in Cap) is only a degree into the 11th house of the Event chart. His SA Sun is 1&1/2 degrees past the 5th house cusp of the Event chart, so I would say that's too far out to count if we're talking cusp conjunctions. Then transiting Chiron is less than 1 degree above my husband's natal ASC.
So all up, I'd say that he's the lucky one here, not me. THAT, or we'll find out we're pregnant again, ha ha ha (although that would be super serious, given my daughter is only 3 months old currently! Could also explain my Progressed Saturn smack-bang on the 11th house cusp via the Porphyry system in my Prog chart! Let's hope not!). If we find out anything interesting, I'm happy to email you our birth data. I never feel comfortable putting personal info like that out on the WWW for all to see!
And by the way, I'm a Dr of Chiropractic. A little left of centre, ha ha. And my Mum used to be a professional astrologer, so I kind of grew up with it shall we say?! I've always loved astrology and find it very interesting in so many ways. In fact, it can be explained scientifically reasonably well. Jupiter in particular has a lot of clout.
Oh, and I have Pluto rising in Libra in the 1st house (not conjunct Asc), although I also have my Sun conjunct both Venus & Uranus in the 2nd house in Scorpio. I'm the one you meet at parties who you think is fun and vivacious, and where we end up talking about deep and meaningful topics. Not *quite* the grim reaper, as people like to suggest with Pluto rising before the Sun, but probably close enough!
As for why I would choose Chiropractic in my chart? I would suggest that having my Sun conjunct Uranus, as well as Aquarius being on my 6th house cusp (via the Placidus house system), which rules Uranus and Chiropractic, as well as having Pluto in the 1st house (which is sextile my wanting-to-help-and-full-of-sympathy Moon/Nep conjunction), plus having a fire trine between my Merc/Mars conjunction and Jupiter (good for action when working with kids), there is plenty in there for me to want to help other people and to change things to do this - in a slightly unorthodox fashion! But not too weird. Libra rising + Sun/Venus conjunction + Sun/Saturn sextile are very helpful so people don't think I'm too whacko, ha ha ha! Which I'm not. But at least I can laugh about it!
I've been 'studying' astrology for about 30 years now, but probably more seriously in the last 5 years or so. It's a more time-consuming hobby than playing the piano these days.
And yes, like you, I find myself helping others, not making money out of it all, sometimes. I like helping others. It feels good, and makes the world a better place. Having a pile of money doesn't help people much because mostly the people who have it are selfish and not philanthropists! Wouldn't it be nice if we could change that?!
PS - Venus is in my 2nd house natally and Taurus rules my 8th house. So in my case I would suggest Venus would have an effect here.

    1. SOOO...we did not win the prize draw! We have, however, nabbed ourselves a cleaner and my husband has been allowed to work from home more (he has an understanding female boss!), we've seen some family members and that's about it. Oh well. Maybe I tend to get small 'windfalls' as such, or chance encounters with people that expand my views of the world?! And maybe my husband's 8th house Jupiter just means no speeding tickets and positive outcomes in court? Things could always be worse!
Having written that, the 'what if' scenario conversations my husband and I have been having if we were to 'win big' gave us good perspectives on such things as our jobs/careers, our life directions, our house and our family life. It was a good 'hypothetical' game if you like. Mostly we're on track, which is always good to know. And there are always things one can can do to rectify some problems - which won't break the bank.

    2. Hi Robyn,

I'm sorry, but when you described some of the aspects to me, I knew you wouldn't win. I didn't say so because I didn't want to discourage you. Many people believe in the power of positive thinking, and you may be one of them. I'm not.

For future reference, Venus rarely has anything to do with winning unless it's the chart ruler, or is the ruler of one of the winning houses. There are some exceptions such as conjunctions to natal Jupiter, but most of the time, Venus transiting the midheaven, or in flowing aspects to the ascendant, simply means NOT working. If you won, of course that would likely be the case, but there would need to be a lot more winning aspects than just pleasant ones from Venus. I adore Venus, but she tends to be lazy and self-indulgent, so when she conjoins our midheaven, we tend to take a vacation, or a few days off. When she joins our ascendant, we tend to eat too much sugar, and this is often an indication of diabetes. Otherwise, we might make purchases to spoil ourselves.

I really hoped Llewellyn would publish my research, but they don't publish new astrology books anymore, they just re-publish their old back list. They've gone Wiccan with an occasional dream interpretation book. I looked into self-publishing, but the volume of example charts is way too cost prohibitive. I'd have to charge $200 a book to cover my costs. That's just crazy and doesn't help anyone.

Over the holidays, I started checking for patterns in the Arabic Parts of the winner's charts. There's a link to a master list of Parts in my right sidebar. ----->
Some are repetitive, though. The Part of Fortune is the same as the Part of Abundance in the Home and the Part of Things to Come, and the Part of Comfort is the same as Anareta II, and one of the Parts of Death is the same as the Part of Regeneration (which I renamed the Part of Phoenix in my notes). I'm just telling that to save others a bunch of work if they decide to use them.

Anyway, I hope your holidays have been cheery and meaningful so far. Don't give up on the lottery charts. One of these days, the winning pattern may make itself known to you!

  10. What about a progressed POF conjuncting a person's natal Jupiter?

With a one degree orb, a progressed POF lasts approximately one month (as it's applying). It is exact for me this month (approximately November 14th, 15th, 16th) and has been within one degree of my natal Jupiter since October 11th.

I realize many factors come into play to win the lottery, but I can't find any information at all on a progressed Part of Fortune. I'd like to ask Robert Hand what he thinks, but I don't know how to reach him. However, you seem to be a "big fan" of Robert hand so maybe you've heard something about progressed POFs.

    What's your opinion?

  11. What about a progressed POF conjuncting a person's natal Jupiter?

This can be—but isn't necessarily—a fortunate aspect. The Part of Fortune can just as easily be the Part of Misfortune depending on aspects to it. Jupiter isn't always about luck. It's also legal matters, travel, immigration, higher education, joy, and expansion of matters in the house(s) it occupies and rules. The conjunction itself doesn't create a Super Jupiter, I'm sorry to say. It all depends on what else is happening with Jupiter. The Part of Fortune is a timer, in the way that the progressed Moon is a timer, and of course, they are inextricably intertwined with each other.

First consider how Jupiter is aspected in your chart, and what it has brought in the past. Not everyone is a gambler; not everyone is a traveler; not everyone acquires more degrees than a thermometer. Be honest with yourself about what Jupiter has brought you in the past. Does it rule your Ascendant or Midheaven, or disposit your Sun or Moon? If so, it carries more weight. What is Jupiter's over-all health in your natal? Is it above or below the horizon?

Then check for any other progressed aspects to natal Jupiter, including solar arc directions and tertiaries.

After that, check the transits to natal Jupiter to see if they are favorable or not. Don't forget to look for New and Full Moons or eclipses that might aspect your natal Jupiter while the progressed PoF is conjunct it. Believe it or not, the type of aspects that contributed to lottery wins (in my research, anyway) weren't always conjunctions and trines. The winners all had other things going on in their lives right up to the minute they won, and the transits reflected those things, as well. In general, though, if the progressed PoF conjunction to natal Jupiter is trined by Venus, Mars, Uranus or Neptune, it should produce energy accordingly. If the conjunction is squared by Saturn, Pluto, Uranus and the South Node, you should expect something entirely different. Ditto for oppositions. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

I realize many factors come into play to win the lottery, but I can't find any information at all on a progressed Part of Fortune.

I checked the charts of the seven winners whose charts I delineated, and none had the progressed PoF conjunct natal Jupiter, but that doesn't mean it won't contribute toward a win for you! It could, but it depends on what else is going on in your chart.

I'd like to ask Robert Hand what he thinks, but I don't know how to reach him.

Glad I could be here for you. In any case, I doubt Robert Hand would waste his time on such frivolous research.

  12. Progressed POF went by with little fanfare. Had several small lottery winners. Yes Jupiter is more or less well aspected for me (even if it is in the 7th House; lucky with partnerships). No real "negatives" to Jupiter, although even a square to Jupiter can be positive. I found Jupiter makes whatever you have "bigger." Bigger bad. Or bigger good. It depends what's in your natal chart.

I've gotten 5 numbers in the lottery several times, but usually as planets (including the Moon) transit my heavily aspected 6th house. Your right about Venus though. Venus doesn't do much as a transit. Neither does the very fleeting transiting POF. However, Mars, Pluto, Jupiter, and even Mercury (as the Ruler of the 5th House) has triggered lottery wins for me. During the last transit of my heavily aspected 6th House, I had over 30 winners, but nothing over $100.00.

Still, I'm going to keep trying, but I don't see anything very dramatic in my chart until next August or so. Progressed chart looks interesting though. Time will tell.

Robert Hand: Sun in Sagittarius/Moon in Scorpio. Maybe you're right. But having Moon and Mars conjunct (10 degrees, barely) in his 5th House of gambling might be something he should look at for himself, if he hasn't already done so. Don't underestimate him at least looking. He's an astrologer after all; anyone who can read a chart will usually look. At least once, if only out of curiosity.

    Thanks for your response.

  14. You rocked this fucking post!!! Great example of how to use all the charts to confirm events, dispositorship, a d how aspects can go either way. Loved it. Great job

  15. Take Astrology, are you a bot? It's not often that I get such a nice compliment unless it's someone trying to hack my blog. I'll take it anyway. Thank you!
