Subject B Solar Arc Directions

Solar arc directed charts maintain the same aspects between the planets as those held in the natal charts. There was nothing outstanding in the solar arcs of Subject B, however, the Ascendant had reached an Aries Point. Anyone who has knowingly experienced a sign change of the Ascendant or Sun by direction realizes there’s no toggle that flips and makes us suddenly different, but it does signal a new beginning.

The directed Ascendant arrived at the cusp of the natal 2nd house of money and opposed natal Jupiter, ruler of the natal Midheaven, which activated the 8th house of lotteries from the cusp.

The directed Ascendant and Sun also arrived at the apex between natal Neptune and natal Pluto becoming the apex of a yod (the hand of God or finger of fate). Natal Pluto, which was powerfully angular, sextiled natal Neptune in the 8th house of lotteries, Neptune being a chart co-ruler because Pisces was intercepted in the 1st house.

The directed Sun had crossed and activated the natal cusp of the 2nd house of money, while it trined natal Uranus, the natal chart ruler.

Directed Pluto was applying to a conjunction with the natal Moon, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, in the 8th house of lotteries. This was one of the indicators of a life completely altered, an intensely emotional end to one way of life, and the birth of a new one. In natal astrology, when Pluto conjuncts the Moon, it often indicates the loss or death of an important woman in the life—a mother, wife, maybe grandmother or sister. It can also mean the destruction of a home. We don’t know if something like that happened around the time of the win. We only know that nothing would ever be the same again for Subject B.

Directed Pluto also trined natal Mercury in Aquarius. The sign of Mercury’s exaltation is a hotly debated subject among astrologers. Some say that it’s exalted in Virgo, which is one of the signs of its rulership. Others see its lightening-fast, original and inventive qualities exalted in Aquarius. Uranus is the higher octave of Mercury, so there’s much to be said for that theory. Among those who believed so were Isabel Hickey, Jess Stern, Frances Sakoian, Louis Acker, Marian March and Joan McEvers, just to start.

Subject B must have had some kind of inkling. Directed Mercury, which squared the natal Midheaven / Nadir axis was supposedly debilitated, both in its detriment and its fall by virtue of being in Pisces and the 12th house of the directed chart, but the only way it could have been more intuitive was if it had also conjuncted Neptune.

Notice that directed Jupiter was separating from a conjunction to natal Neptune by two and a half degrees in the 8th house of lotteries, while squaring natal Mercury, at the same time that directed Neptune sextiled natal Mercury in the 12th house of intuition and other realms. Mercury also squared the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 10 Sagittarius 09, and natal Saturn, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

Directed Saturn and the directed Midheaven in the 11th house of lucky breaks opposed the natal Part of Fortune in the 5th house of risks and gambles — the directed Midheaven by a mere three minutes in orb.

Directed Uranus brought sudden changes to Subject B’s path in life through a square to the natal Midheaven and trine to natal Mars, ruler of the 2nd house of money. It also opposed the natal East Point, which represents a personal matter that takes place in public, or attracts public attention.

The directed Moon’s Nodes, which indicate milestones and turning points, sextiled and trined the natal Ascendant / Descendant axis, and the natal Sun and Pluto.

The directed Part of Fortune squared the natal Moon’s Nodes.

Directed Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rewards, trined the natal Part of Fortune in the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Directed Transpluto of payoffs conjuncted the natal Vertex date with destiny.

And now the transits to the directed chart:

In the transits of Subject B to the directed chart, let’s begin with Mars, ruler of the directed Ascendant, and co-ruler of the 8th house of lotteries. Transiting Mars was just about to leave the 8th house, but before it went, it conjuncted directed Neptune, then the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 10 Sagittarius 09.

Notice that transiting Mars was also conjunct transiting Mercury, which was retrograde and would turn stationary direct in four days. At this point, it was like a stalled hurricane gathering strength. Whenever two or more planets join forces to aspect a third planet, the power of the aspect is greatly increased. Both were squaring directed Mercury, which in spite of neither occupying nor ruling a winning house, has been shown to be very intuitive in this win, due to being in Pisces and in the 12th house of intuition. They also squared directed Uranus in the 6th, which ruled the 11th house of lucky breaks, as well as directed Transpluto of payoffs, which transiting Jupiter (bigger, better more) conjuncted. To top it off, directed Transpluto and transiting Jupiter trined the directed Midheaven, which transiting Neptune conjuncted. Neptune near the Midheaven often brings altruistic and charitable activities.

Transiting Neptune was part of a stellium that included conjunctions with transiting Uranus, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, the Vertex date with destiny, and the North Node of the Moon. The stellium trined the directed Uranus / Transpluto conjunction, which transiting Jupiter supported by conjunction. The transiting Midheaven was in the second house, pulling all of them into a Grand Trine.
The stellium also squared the directed East Point, which represents a personal matter that takes place in public, attracts public notice or captures the public’s attention.

The transiting Sun, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, was a little too far behind to count as part of the stellium, but was not without its charms. It trined the directed Part of Fortune in the 5th house of risks and gambles where the transiting Ascendant and Transpluto of payoffs conjuncted it.

Transiting Venus, ruler of the 2nd house of money, conjuncted the directed Moon in the 8th house of lotteries, and sextiled directed Uranus, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. The transiting Moon reciprocated by conjuncting directed Venus, but made an even closer conjunction to Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and once-in-a-lifetime events, with only two minutes of orb.

Transiting Pluto, primary ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, trined directed Venus, ruler of the 2nd house of money, and squared the directed Part of Fortune in the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Lest we forget, transiting Saturn, ruler of the Midheaven, sextiled the directed Sun, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, and trined directed Pluto, primary ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, across the Ascendant / Descendant axis.

The transiting Moon’s Nodes, which bring about milestones or turning points in life, trined and sextiled the directed Mercury / directed Uranus opposition.

The transiting Part of Fortune conjuncted the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 25 Taurus 55, in the 2nd house of money.
