In the progressed chart of Subject C, the two planets closest to the
angles—Mercury at the Ascendant and Jupiter at the Midheaven—were
in mutual reception. Jupiter was the chart ruler because Sagittarius
was on the Ascendant.
- Jupiter (bigger, better, more, joy, abundance) exactly sextiled Pluto, planet of wealth and transformation, in the 8th house of lotteries.
- Jupiter opposed the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 21 Pisces 49, while Pluto trined it.
Mercury, the rising
planet:
- Trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 08 Virgo 10 an orb of two minutes.
- Trined the South Node, which conjuncted Neptune.
For all of us who
need to know, the progressed Moon, which is always touted as the most
important planet in the secondary progressed chart, was doing
absolutely nothing here. It made a wide opposition to Uranus, but
Uranus neither occupied nor ruled a winning house. Of course, it was
Uranus…decide for yourself.
The Sun reached an
Aries point—0 degrees and 0 minutes of Capricorn. Aries Points
represent new beginnings. The Sun conjuncted the East Point, the
result being that the individual was associated with a new beginning
that captured the public’s attention and engaged their imagination. They squared the Midheaven,
showing that it happened in a big and important way.
Saturn, strong in
its own sign, both ruled and occupied the 2nd house of
money.
- It trined the Midheaven.
- It sextiled Venus, ruler of the Midheaven.
- It obviously did not matter that the aspects were separating by 2 degrees.
Mars, ruler of the
5th house of risks and gambles, was in a wide conjunction with the
South Node. Normally, a conjunction of Mars and Jupiter (that energizing little bunny goes and goes and goes) is a favorable combination that takes risks, plays
to win, and usually does win, but the aspect between them here
was very wide at 070 23’, and these were progressions,
which we’ve always been taught have a three degree influence—one
applying, one while partile and one while separating. Like the Moon
with Uranus, it’s hard to say whether this conjunction contributed
to the win or not. Understanding the energies of this combination,
and the fact that Jupiter was so important in this chart, we would be
inclined to think it did. We certainly want to observe how these two
planets aspect the natal chart, and how the transits affect
them.
The Moon ruled the
8th house of lotteries. The Moon wasn’t helpful; however the 8th
house holds a fortunate combination: Pluto, planet of wealth; the
Vertex date with destiny; and Transpluto of payoffs, all in a tight
conjunction.
Venus ruled the 11th
house of plot twists, which sextiled and trined the Midheaven / Nadir
axis, and also sextiled Saturn, ruler of the 2nd house,
occupying the 2nd house.
Now we’ll begin the study of the progressed chart to the natal chart of Subject C with the chart rulers. Scorpio was the natal rising sign, so there were two: Mars and Pluto.
- With an orb of 7 degrees and 23 minutes between them, progressed Mars may or may not have been in conjunction with the progressed Jupiter, but it certainly conjuncted the natal Jupiter, which occupied the 11th house of plot twists and ruled the 2nd house of money. Mars also conjuncted the natal South Node.
Pluto, planet of
wealth and utter transformation, and Transpluto of payoffs, are
conjunct in the natal chart, and neither will progress more than a
couple of degrees from their natal positions during a lifetime. On
the winning day, the progressed Vertex date with destiny,
which moves at a relative clip, reached the midpoint between them. The
Vertex conjunction to Pluto had become partile in May 1983, a full
three years before the lottery win, but they remained within close
orb.
- The Vertex date with destiny reached a sextile to natal Venus in the 11th house of plot twists.
- More importantly, progressed Pluto and the progressed Vertex formed a Grand Trine with natal Mercury, ruler of both the 8th house of lotteries and the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, and the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 21 Pisces 49, in the 5th house of risks and gambles.
- They also sextiled natal Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and once-in-a-lifetime events.
Jupiter, the Greater Beneficent, ruler of the natal 2nd house of money, conjuncted natal Venus, the Lesser Beneficent, in the 11th house of plot twists. In addition, Jupiter:
- Sextiled natal Mercury, ruler of both the 8th house of lotteries and the 11th house of plot twists.
- Opposed the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 21 Pisces 49.
- Trined Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and once-in-a-lifetime events.
- Sextiled natal Pluto, planet of transformation and wealth, co-ruler of the chart.
- Co-ruled the 5th house of risks and gambles.
In the progressed
chart, the South Node had reached a conjunction to Neptune. It took
place in the progressed 9th house, and Neptune ruled the
intercepted 3rd house, so it seems insignificant to the
win. But in comparing the progressions to the natal chart, Neptune
ruled the natal 5th house and the conjunction took
place in the natal 11th, and that made it much more
important. Don’t forget that in lottery astrology, the South Node
is our friend. The progressed South Node and progressed Neptune
sextiled the natal East Point, the personal matter that takes place
in public, or gains public attention.
Mercury ruled both
the natal 8th house of lotteries and the 11th
house of plot twists.
Jupiter (bigger,
better, more) was the natal chart ruler, and ruler of the progressed
2nd house of money. Progressed Mercury and progressed
Jupiter were in mutual reception. Progressed Jupiter
sextiled natal Mercury.
- Progressed Chiron of triumphant ascendancy opposed natal Mercury.
- Progressed Mercury squared the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 08 Sagittarius 10, in the 11th house by only two minutes, and natal Neptune, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, which also occupied the 11th of plot twists and lucky breaks.
- Progressed Mercury occupied the natal 2nd house of money where it trined the natal Midheaven and opposed the natal Vertex date with destiny in the 8th house of lotteries.
The Moon’s
progressed Nodes, which represent milestones or turning points,
sextiled and trined the natal East Point, which represents personal
matters which take place in public or attract public attention, by
only ten minutes of difference.
Progressed Chiron of
triumphant ascendancy and once-in-a-lifetime events:
- Trined natal Venus in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.
- Sextiled natal Pluto, a chart ruler.
- Squared Mars, the other chart ruler.
- Opposed natal Mercury, ruler of the 8th and 11th houses.
The progressed Part
of Fortune squared the natal Mercury / Chiron opposition, and made an
inconjunct to the natal Venus in the 11th house of plot
twists and lucky breaks.
Now, the transits to the progressed chart:
Now, the transits to the progressed chart:
Comparing the transits to the progressed chart, beginning with the chart ruler, we find that transiting Jupiter had just separated from an opposition to progressed Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, and then applied to an opposition to its own progressed place. Transiting planets that oppose their own places are reaching a culmination, just like the plot of a book reaches a denouement, which is the payoff for the effort of a long period of time. Of course, this is not the natal Jupiter here, but it seems to have the same effect. The right planets which return to their own positions, whether by transit, progression, direction, tertiary, or harmonic, are also helpful to winning.
Transiting Jupiter (bigger, better, more) also trined progressed Pluto, planet of wealth, in the 8th house of lotteries.
Saturn ruled the 2nd
house of money. Transiting Saturn conjuncted the transiting East
Point, which represents personal matters that take place in public,
or gain public attention. Together, they:
- Conjuncted progressed Mercury (in mutual reception with Jupiter, the chart ruler) at the progressed Ascendant of “You. Here. Now.”
- Squared the Neptune / South Node conjunction. Neptune wasn’t wildly important in this chart, but the South Node represents a milestone or turning point. Sometimes a Neptune aspect makes us ask, “Is this real?”
Mars ruled the 5th
house of risks and gambles. Transiting Mars had just entered the 2nd
house of money where it:
- Formed a Grand Trine with progressed Jupiter, the chart ruler, by 26 minutes, and Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and once-in-a-lifetime events.
- Opposed the 8th house stellium consisting of Pluto (also by 26 minutes), the Vertex date with destiny and Transpluto of payoffs.
The Moon ruled the
8th house of lotteries. The transiting Moon trined its own progressed
place in the 10th house of public acknowledgment, and
sextiled progressed Uranus of shocks, surprises and sudden change.
Venus ruled the 11th
house of plot twists and lucky breaks. Transiting Venus trined the
progressed North Node and sextiled the South Node / Neptune
conjunction, which brought a pleasant turn of events.
Transiting Uranus,
planet of surprises and sudden changes in the 1st house,
squared progressed Jupiter, chart ruler, and trined its own
progressed place.
The transiting
Moon’s Nodes occupied the 5th house of risks and gambles
and 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, and
squared the progressed Transpluto of payoffs in the 8th
house of lotteries. They also sextiled and trined the angular
progressed Sun.
Transiting Chiron,
of triumphant ascendancy and once-in-a-lifetime events, in
conjunction with transiting Mercury, squared progressed Mars, ruler
of the 5th house of risks and gambles, and trined the
progressed Moon, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries.
Transiting
Transpluto of payoffs trined progressed Uranus of shocks, surprises
and sudden change.
The transiting Part
of Fortune opposed progressed Saturn, ruler of the 2nd
house of money, in the 2nd house. It also trined Venus,
ruler of the 11th house of plot twists.
The transiting
Ascendant trined the progressed Pluto/Vertex/Transpluto stellium in
the 8th house of lotteries, and sextiled progressed
Jupiter, chart ruler, by only three minutes. It also opposed
progressed Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and once-in-a-lifetime
events.
