Subject A Lottery Lunations and Eclipses

In a comparison of the New Moon chart of September 12, 1996 to the natal chart of Subject A, winner of $35 million dollars, we need to make a distinction between previous and current New Moons and Eclipses. In the chart of Subject A:

  • The previous New Moon took place at 20 Virgo 27 on September 12, 1996.
  • A Lunar Eclipse took place at 04 Aries 16 on September 26, 1996.
  • The current New Moon, which technically was a Solar Eclipse, took place at 19 Libra 32, on October 12, 1996, one month after the previous New Moon.
  • Subject A won the lottery on October 26, 1996, one month after the Lunar Eclipse.

The previous New Moon of September 12, which took place at 20 Virgo 26, fell into Subject A’s 5th house of risks and gambles, and conjuncted her natal Mars, the natal chart ruler.

The New Moon Venus, ruler of the 2nd house of money, conjuncted natal Transpluto of payoffs. It also trined and sextiled the natal Moon’s Nodes, marking a milestone or turning point. It was separating from a square to the natal Sun, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles.

The New Moon Mars (natal chart ruler, and ruler of the 2nd house of money in the New Moon chart) squared the natal Ascendant and natal Sun, ruler of the 5th house, and applied to a conjunction with natal Transpluto of payoffs.

The New Moon Ascendant, Part of Fortune, and East Point, which represents personal matters that take place in public or attract the public's attention or imagination, conjuncted the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.

The New Moon Midheaven (28 Sag 12) trined the natal Ascendant and opposed natal Uranus, planet of shocks, surprises and sudden changes of fortune, which ruled the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

The New Moon Vertex date with destiny (28 Vir 32) opposed the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.

Below is the chart for the September Lunar Eclipse, and below it is the Eclipse chart surrounding the natal chart.

A Lunar Eclipse took place September 26, 1996 at 4 Aries 16. The Moon fell into Subject A’s natal 12th house of intuition and other realms, conjuncted her natal North Node, and trined her natal Transpluto of payoffs. The Sun, which conjuncted the south end of the nodal axis, ruled the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Eclipse Mars, chart ruler and co-ruler of the 8th house of lotteries (and 11th house of plot twists in the Eclipse chart), opposed the natal Part of Fortune in the 10th house of public recognition, and sextiled the natal Vertex date with destiny.

Eclipse Venus, ruler of the natal 2nd house of money (and the 5th house of risks and gambles in the Eclipse chart), conjuncted the cusp of the natal 5th house, and trined natal Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rewards.

The Eclipse Ascendant conjuncted natal Uranus, planet of the sudden and unexpected, primary ruler of her natal 11th house of lucky breaks.

The Eclipse Part of Fortune trined the natal Ascendant and natal Sun, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles. It opposed natal Uranus, ruler of the 11th house.

The Eclipse East Point, in the 2nd house of money, trined the natal Part of Fortune in the 10th house of public recognition.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny trined natal Venus, ruler of the 2nd house of money in the 11th house of lucky breaks, and the natal Moon which both occupied and ruled an angular house.

Below is the chart for the October Solar Eclipse, and below it is the Eclipse chart surrounding the natal chart.

The Solar Eclipse that took place on October 12, 1996, at 19 Libra 31, fell into Subject A’s natal 6th house and conjuncted natal Neptune, ruler of her 12th house of intuition and other realms. Notice this is the second Eclipse to involve the 12th house. It squared her Midheaven / Nadir axis, as well as the natal Moon in her 4th house, ruler of the Nadir. It opposed the natal East Point, which represents personal matters that take place in public or capture the public’s imagination.

Eclipse Mars, chart ruler and co-ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, was separating from a conjunction to Pluto, its 8th house co-ruler, and activated the cusp of the 5th house of risks and gambles. It also trined natal Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rewards.

Eclipse Venus and the Eclipse Midheaven, conjuncted natal Saturn, ruler of the natal Midheaven (and the Eclipse chart’s 2nd house of money), as well as co-ruler of the natal 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, in the natal 5th house of risks and gambles.

The Eclipse Ascendant and Part of Fortune trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28, and activated the natal 8th house of lotteries from the cusp.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny squared the natal Vertex and Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 12 Libra 32.

The Eclipse East Point in the 8th house of lotteries, trined natal Pluto, co-ruler of the natal 8th house, and squared natal Venus, ruler of the natal 2nd house of money. Natal Venus occupied the natal 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. The East Point also trined its own natal position.

Two weeks after the Solar Eclipse (New Moon), on October 26, 1996, the day Subject A won, the full Moon at 03 Taurus 26, conjuncted her natal Sun, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Next, for Subject A only, we’ll compare both Eclipses to the secondary progressed chart, solar arc directions, and the tertiary progressions.

The Lunar Eclipse (04 Ari 16) fell into the 10th house of the secondary progressed chart of Subject A, where it conjuncted the progressed North Node of the Moon and squared progressed Uranus, planet of shocks and surprises, in the 1st house. It also sextiled the progressed East Point, which attracts public attention. The progressed Moon ruled the 2nd house of money.

Eclipse Mercury, the progressed chart ruler, squared the progressed Sun and progressed Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and crowning achievements.

Eclipse Venus, ruler of the progressed 5th house of risks and gambles, trined the progressed Part of Fortune in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, and squared progressed Mercury, the chart ruler.

Eclipse Mars, ruler of the progressed 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, squared progressed Venus, ruler of the progressed 5th house in the 11th house. It also closed in on a trine to the progressed Moon, ruler of the progressed 2nd house of money.

The Eclipse Ascendant trined the progressed Midheaven (0O Pis 41)  and conjuncted progressed Uranus of shocks, surprises and sudden changes.

The Eclipse Midheaven conjuncted progressed Jupiter, co-ruler of the Midheaven, planet of luck and good fortune.

The Eclipse Part of Fortune sextiled the progressed Midheaven and opposed Uranus shocks, surprises and sudden changes.

Now look at the same Lunar Eclipse compared to the solar arc directed chart:

Just as in the secondary progressed chart, the Lunar Eclipse fell into the 10th house of Subject A’s solar arc directed chart, but this time it activated the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, and 5th house of risks and gambles, by conjuncting those cusps, assisted by the Eclipse Nodes of the Moon.

Eclipse Mercury, directed chart ruler, conjuncted directed Transpluto of payoffs.

Eclipse Venus, ruler of the directed 5th house of risks and gambles, squared the directed Moon’s Nodes by only one minute of orb.

Eclipse Jupiter activated the directed 8th house of lotteries by conjuncting the cusp. It also opposed directed Mercury, chart ruler, at the cusp of the 2nd house of money.

The Eclipse Ascendant trined the directed Midheaven and squared directed Pluto, planet of wealth and transformation.

The Eclipse Midheaven (05 Pis 57) trined directed Mercury, the chart ruler; opposed the directed Moon, ruler of the 2nd house of money; and trined Mars, ruler of the directed 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, which occupied the 5th house of risks and gambles.

The Eclipse Part of Fortune (01 Cap 14) trined directed Venus, ruler of the 5th, in the 11th house.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny conjuncted the directed South Node.

Below is the Lunar Eclipse with the tertiary progressed chart.

Above we have the Lunar Eclipse chart surrounding the tertiary progressed chart of Subject A. The Eclipse fell into the 4th house where it conjuncted tertiary Jupiter, the chart ruler. Additionally, the Eclipse trined tertiary Transpluto of payoffs in the 8th house of lotteries, and squared tertiary Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rewards, in the 1st house. In this tertiary chart, the Moon ruled the 8th house of lotteries. The tertiary Moon occupied the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Eclipse Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, trined the Ascendant.

Eclipse Venus, ruler of the tertiary 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, conjuncted tertiary Pluto in the 8th house of lotteries, and trined tertiary Mercury, ruler of the Midheaven and Descendant.

The Eclipse Ascendant (01 Can 14) trined the tertiary North Node / sextiled the South Node. As in all Lunar Eclipse charts, the Eclipse Part of Fortune opposed the Eclipse Ascendant, and therefore, made the opposite aspects to the Nodes.

The Eclipse Midheaven (05 Pis 57) sextiled the tertiary Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and crowning achievements, and sextiled the tertiary Moon, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries in the 5th house of risks and gambles.

The Eclipse East Point, which represents personal matters that take place in public, or attract public notice, conjuncted the tertiary Descendant.

Now we'll check the Solar Eclipse to the same progressed charts.

The Solar Eclipse of October 1996 at 19 Libra 31 in conjunction with the Eclipse Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rewards fell into Subject A’s secondary progressed 5th house of risks and gambles where they made a trine to the progressed Sun.

Remember, we’re not examining long term transits in most cases, because they will be the same (or very close) to the positions they held in the winning transit chart.

Eclipse Mercury, the progressed chart ruler, conjuncted the progressed South Node; trined the progressed East Point of public notice; sextiled progressed Transpluto of payoffs in the 2nd house of money; and squared Uranus, planet of shocks and sudden changes in fortune, and was the rising planet in the progressed chart.

Eclipse Venus, ruler of the progressed 5th house of risks and gambles, trined its own place in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, and conjuncted progressed Saturn, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries.

The Eclipse Ascendant and Part of Fortune sextiled progressed Mars, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, and trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.

The Eclipse Midheaven conjuncted progressed Saturn, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries.

The Eclipse East Point (15 Sag 15), which captures the public’s imagination, conjuncted progressed Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rewards, and trined the progressed Moon, ruler of the 2nd house of money. It also trined progressed Pluto, planet of vast wealth and transformation.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny in the 1st house, sextiled progressed Venus, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

Below is the Solar Eclipse compared to the solar arc directions.

In Subject A’s solar arc directed chart, the Solar Eclipse / Chiron conjunction fell into the 5th house of risks and gambles, and in trine to the directed Sun because the secondary progressed Sun and the solar arc directed Sun are always the same.

Eclipse Mercury, the directed chart ruler, activated the 5th house of risks and gambles from just inside the cusp, and trined Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and crowning achievements.

Eclipse Venus, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, had just separated from a conjunction to the directed Moon, ruler of the 2nd house of money, and a sextile to directed Mercury, the chart ruler.

Eclipse Mars, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, made three aspects:
  • It sextiled the directed Sun.
  • Squared the Moon’s Nodes to mark a turning point or milestone in life.
  • Conjuncted Uranus to trigger the directed Jupiter / Uranus trine. Jupiter occupied the 11th house of lucky breaks.

The Eclipse Ascendant and Part of Fortune conjuncted the directed Vertex date with destiny, and trined the directed Part of Fortune and Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.

The Eclipse Midheaven squared the directed Ascendant / Descendant axis.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny activated the 2nd house of money from just inside the cusp.

The Eclipse East Point conjuncted the directed Descendant and formed a Grand Trine with directed Jupiter and directed Uranus. Jupiter occupied the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

Below is the Solar Eclipse to the tertiary chart.

In the tertiary progressed chart of Subject A, the Solar Eclipse and Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rewards, fell into the 10th house of public recognition, where it was separating from a conjunction with tertiary Saturn, ruler of the 2nd house of money; tertiary Neptune, planet of disbelief, ruler of the Nadir; and tertiary Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Eclipse Mercury, ruler of the Midheaven, opposed tertiary Jupiter, the chart ruler. It also sextiled tertiary Venus, ruler of the 11th house of lucky breaks; squared tertiary Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and crowning achievements; and sextiled tertiary Transpluto of payoffs in the 8th house of lotteries.

Venus ruled the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. Eclipse Venus trined the tertiary Moon, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, in the 5th house of risks and gambles. Because a Solar Eclipse is, technically, a powerful New Moon, it is also tied to the 8th house, where Cancer is on the cusp.

Eclipse Mars, ruler of the tertiary 5th house of risks and gambles:
  • Conjuncted tertiary Pluto, planet of wealth, at the outer cusp of the 8th house.
  • Sextiled tertiary Neptune at the cusp of the 11th house of plot twists.
  • Sextiled its own tertiary position, which conjuncted Neptune, and occupied the 11th.
  • Trined tertiary Mercury, ruler of the Midheaven.

The Eclipse Ascendant and Part of Fortune sextiled and trined the tertiary Midheaven/ Nadir, and trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.

The Eclipse Midheaven trined the tertiary Sun at the cusp of the 2nd house of money.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny conjuncted tertiary Uranus, planet of surprises and sudden changes in fortune.

The Eclipse East Point sextiled Saturn, ruler of the 2nd house of money.

Subject B Lottery Lunations and Eclipses

Subject B won the lottery on December 13, 1991. The New Moon that month occurred eight days before, on December 5, 1991, at 13 Sagittarius 31, and fell into her 10th house of public recognition.

  • It conjuncted her natal Midheaven.
  • Conjuncted natal Saturn, ruler of her 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. Saturn also co-ruled the 12th house, but more importantly, the Aquarian Ascendant, making it one of the chart rulers.
  • Conjuncted the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 10 Sagittarius 09.
  • Squared natal Vertex date with destiny.

Before I point out the faster moving planets and points, make a quick note that transiting Transpluto of payoffs squared the natal Moon's Nodes - not in winning houses, but occupying money signs and indicating a turning point or milestone.

 The  faster planets show that:

The Moon (because this is a New Moon chart) ruled the natal 5th house of risks and gambles.

The New Moon Venus occupied and ruled the 8th house of lotteries, where it conjuncted natal Neptune, one of the chart rulers (Pisces intercepted in the 1st house), trined the natal Sun, and sextiled Pluto, planet of wealth and transformation. Both the Sun and Pluto were angular.

The New Moon Ascendant and Part of Fortune squared the natal Midheaven and opposed the natal East Point, both of which attract public attention.

The New Moon Midheaven sextiled natal Uranus, the primary chart ruler.

The New Moon East Point conjuncted natal Pluto and opposed the natal Sun.

The New Moon Vertex date with destiny opposed natal Transpluto of payoffs and trined the natal Moon, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, in the 8th house of lotteries. It applied to a conjunction with Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rare opportunities. Lest you think it’s being overlooked, the Vertex was separating from a conjunction to Mercury—seemingly of little consequence other than Mercury being exalted in Aquarius—but remember that the Vertex can open a doorway of communication to other realms, that Mercury is the planet of communication, and the 12th house is the house of other realms.

Note that a week after she won, a Lunar Eclipse on December 21, 1991 at 29 Gemini 03, trined her natal Sun, squared her natal Jupiter, and sextiled her natal Pluto. When we think we have found a winning date, we should check the next New Moon or Eclipse (whichever comes first), to see if we’ve collected our money and are busy spending at least a little of it.

Subject C Lottery Lunations and Eclipses

We’ll begin with the April Solar Eclipse to the natal chart of Anonymous Subject C because it occurred before the other lunations. Subject C won the lottery on May 28, 1986. Seven weeks prior to the win, at 19 Aries, the Eclipse triggered Subject C’s 6th house, where it conjuncted natal Uranus, planet of shocks, surprises and sudden changes in fortune.

We weren’t going to include long-term transits in this study, but Eclipse Neptune is so intertwined in the next aspect, that it’s simply easier to include it. Look at
  1. Eclipse Mars, co-ruler of the natal Ascendant
  2. Eclipse Neptune, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles
  3. Eclipse Ascendant
  4. Eclipse Part of Fortune
    • Each sextiled the natal Sun, ruler of the Midheaven in the 1st house.
    • Sextiled the natal Moon in the 1st house.
    • Sextiled the natal Part of Fortune in the 1st house.
    • Trined natal Neptune, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, which occupied the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.
    • Trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 08 Virgo 10.

Eclipse Venus also trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse and Neptune.

Eclipse Mercury ruled the 8th house of lotteries and 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. While transiting the 5th house of risks and gambles, it trined natal Pluto, primary chart ruler, planet of wealth and transformation. It also trined its own natal position.

The Eclipse Midheaven conjuncted the natal Ascendant, and squared natal Transpluto of payoffs.

The Eclipse East Point opposed natal Pluto, chart co-ruler, and natal Transpluto of payoffs. Yes, it does also conjunct natal Saturn, but that’s of little consequence.

Below is the Lunar Eclipse.

The Lunar Eclipse of April 24, 1986 conjunction with transiting Pluto and the transiting Vertex date with destiny, fell into the personal identity 1st house of Subject C, conjunct the natal Scorpio stellium consisting of the Ascendant, Part of Fortune, Moon, Sun (ruler of the Midheaven) and East Point. Remember that the Moon and Pluto are in mutual reception in the natal chart. The natal Mercury is also in Scorpio, but not within range of the conjunction.

The Eclipse Ascendant and Eclipse Part of Fortune (in opposition to each other because this is a full Moon chart), squared the natal Moon’s Nodes, which represent turning points or milestones in life. As the natal South Node conjuncted the natal Jupiter, ruler of the 2nd house of money, in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, Eclipse Jupiter conjuncted the natal North Node, and opposed its own place.

Eclipse Mercury, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries and 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, was separating from a trine to the natal Midheaven. Three degrees is quite a bit for a separating aspect, but may have had some bearing in the matter.

The Eclipse Midheaven opposed natal Mars, chart co-ruler; sextiled natal Uranus of shocks and surprises; and squared natal Mercury, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries and 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

The Eclipse East Point, which attracts public attention or captures its imagination, conjuncted natal Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and crowning achievements, and trined natal Venus in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny conjuncted the natal Scorpio stellium and squared the natal Midheaven / Nadir axis.

Below is the New Moon chart:

Anonymous Subject C won $21 million dollars on May 28, 1986. The previous New Moon took place twenty days prior to the win, on May 8, 1986 at 18 Taurus 00 in her natal 7th house, where it trined the natal South Node and natal Jupiter, ruler of the 2nd house of money. Both occupied the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. Of course, the New Moon also sextiled the natal North Node in the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Eclipse Mercury, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries and 11th house of lucky breaks, conjuncted the Descendant, where it opposed the natal Scorpio stellium.

The Eclipse Ascendant and Part of Fortune opposed natal Uranus, which had been conjuncted by the Solar Eclipse on April 9th. They also squared natal Pluto, the primary chart ruler.

The Eclipse Midheaven:
  • Conjuncted natal Pluto and Transpluto of payoffs.
  • Sextiled natal Venus in the 11th house.
  • Trined natal Mercury, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries and 11th house of lucky breaks.

The Eclipse East Point, which represents personal matters that take place in public, or attract public attention or imagination, squared natal Transpluto of payoffs.

Subject D Lottery Lunations and Eclipses

Along with so many other winners presented in this book, Subject D’s win was preceded by a set of eclipses. The Lunar Eclipse that took place on November 8, 1984, fell into her 6th house, where it:

  • Squared natal Saturn, ruler of the 2nd house of money.
  • Squared natal Pluto, planet of wealth and transformation, in the 8th house of lotteries.
  • Trined natal Mercury, ruler of the Midheaven at the Midheaven.
The Eclipse Moon ruled the 8th house of lotteries.

Eclipse Uranus conjuncted the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 12 Sagittarius 22. It squared natal Venus, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and changes of fortune. Eclipse Venus opposed natal Uranus and conjuncted the natal East Point, which captures the public’s imagination.

While returning to conjunct its natal position, the Moon’s North Node also conjuncted the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 28 Taurus 42.

Eclipse Mercury and the Eclipse Midheaven conjuncted the natal Ascendant where they trined natal Transpluto of payoffs and the natal Part of Fortune in the 8th house of lotteries.

The Eclipse Ascendant opposed natal Pluto, planet of wealth and transformation in the 8th house of lotteries, and natal Saturn, ruler of the 2nd house of money. It made an inconjunct to natal Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles in the 8th house of lotteries. The Eclipse Part of Fortune conjuncted Pluto and Saturn.

Eclipse Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles which transited through the 2nd house of money, sextiled and trined the natal Moon’s Nodes, showing that this particular gamble would become a turning point or milestone in life.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny, one minute shy of 10 Virgo, trined the natal Moon, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, and conjuncted the natal Sun and Venus, ruler of the 11th house of lucky breaks.

We haven’t been tracking the outer planets or long-term transits in the New Moon or Eclipse charts because for the most part, they were in the same positions they held in the winning transit charts. But watch Jupiter in the lunation charts of Subject D. In this Lunar Eclipse, which took place November 8, 1984, the chart ruler, Eclipse Jupiter, was at 10 Capricorn 10, and trined the natal Moon, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries. Hold that thought; we’ll come back to it soon.

On November 22, 1984, two weeks after the Lunar Eclipse, and exactly one month before Subject D won the lottery, a Solar Eclipse took place at 00 Sagittarius 50. It conjuncted the natal Ascendant and South Node, and trined the natal Part of Fortune and Transpluto of payoffs in the 8th house of lotteries. Once again, the Eclipse Moon ruled the 8th house.

Transits to the Prenatal Eclipses remain the same as they were at the time of the Lunar Eclipse.

We’re skipping over the ruler of the 2nd house of money because Saturn is a long-term transit, and moving on to the ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles. Eclipse Mars opposed natal Transpluto of payoffs, and squared natal Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rare opportunities, in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

Ruler of the 11th house, Eclipse Venus had just entered the 2nd house of money, where it conjuncted Eclipse Jupiter, the chart ruler. It trined the natal Moon, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries. Are you still holding the thought of Jupiter in trine to the Moon from the Lunar Eclipse of November 8th? Here, two weeks later, Eclipse Jupiter and Eclipse Venus conjuncted to form a Grand Trine with the natal Moon and the natal Sun / Venus conjunction. Eclipse Jupiter’s trine to natal Venus had an orb of only two minutes. Hold that thought, too.

The Eclipse Midheaven squared the natal Ascendant / Descendant axis, and trined natal Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rare opportunities.

The Eclipse Ascendant and Part of Fortune conjuncted natal Uranus, planet of shocks, surprises and sudden changes.

The Eclipse Vertex date with destiny squared natal Saturn, ruler of the 2nd house of money, and sextiled / trined the natal Midheaven / Nadir axis. It was only 3 degrees shy of conjuncting natal Jupiter, the chart ruler, and as we’ve seen in so many in these charts, it was close enough.

Eclipse Mercury, ruler of the natal Midheaven, conjuncted the natal East Point, which drew public attention. Then the Eclipse East Point trined Neptune in the 10th house of public recognition. These are small transits that are easy to overlook, but contribute a great deal to the win.

A month passed after the Solar Eclipse. On December 22, 1984, at 6:46 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, a New Moon took place at 00 Capricorn 49. It was the winter solstice, and an Aries Point. At 9 P.M. the same day, Subject D won $13 million in the lottery. The New Moon fell into her 1st house, but made no significant aspects at all to her natal chart.

Remember that Mercury is the final dispositor of the natal chart. Transiting Mercury turned retrograde on December 4, 1984, at 00 Capricorn 44, and on December 22, it was stationary direct, a stalled hurricane gathering strength. It would turn direct on Christmas Eve at 14 Sagittarius 32, but on the 22nd, it made a number of aspects:
  • Inconjuncted natal Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, occupying the 8th house of lotteries.
  • Trined natal Pluto, planet of wealth and transformation, occupying the 8th house of lotteries.
  • Trined natal Saturn, ruler of the 2nd house of money, just 56 minutes outside the 8th house of lotteries.
  • Squared the natal Sun.
  • Squared natal Venus, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.
  • A conjunction to the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 12 Sagittarius 22.

Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, brought a turning point or milestone through a square to the Moon’s Nodes. It also squared the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 28 Taurus 42.

Still holding the thought about Jupiter? At the Lunar Eclipse, Jupiter trined the natal Moon, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries. At the Solar Eclipse, Jupiter trined the Moon, plus the Sun and Venus. In the New Moon chart on the day of the win, Jupiter trined Mercury, ruler of the Midheaven and final dispositor of the natal chart, which was conjunct the Midheaven. Jupiter’s trine to Mercury had an orb of only two minutes.

In the Solar Eclipse chart, the Ascendant and Part of Fortune conjuncted natal Uranus. In the New Moon chart, they opposed it.

In the Solar Eclipse chart, the Midheaven squared the Ascendant / Descendant axis. In the New Moon chart, it squared the Vertex date with destiny.

In the Solar Eclipse chart, the Vertex date with destiny squared natal Saturn. In the New Moon chart, it conjuncted natal Transpluto of payoffs.

The East Point of the New Moon chart brought public awareness through an opposition to natal Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, and the natal Vertex date with destiny.
