Subject A Tertiary Progressions

Subject A won $35 million dollars. In her tertiary progressions, the most important aspect was the Moon, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, in square to Transpluto of payoffs in the 8th house. The Moon occupied the 5th house of risks and gambles. Notice that Transpluto also received a trine from the rising Venus, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. Venus and Transpluto formed a Grand Trine with Jupiter, the chart ruler. Jupiter then squared Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rewards.

The Sun conjuncted the cusp of the 2nd house and squared Saturn by only seven minutes of orb. Saturn ruled the 2nd house of money.

Mercury, ruler of the Midheaven, trined Pluto, planet of wealth, in the 8th house of lotteries. Both made a sextile to Neptune at the cusp of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. Although not technically in the 11th, Neptune ruled an angle, the Nadir, house of home, family, domestic matters and real estate. Want to bet she bought or built a house? With Neptune involved, it would be her dream house.

The Vertex date with destiny in the 8th house of lotteries squared Mars, which technically was in the 11th house, while ruling the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Uranus, planet of shocks, surprises and sudden changes in fortune, squared the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 12 Libra 32 in the 10th house of public attention and the path in life.

The East Point, which also signals public awareness, trined the Midheaven of yet more public interest.

The Midheaven was only 25 minutes away from a new sign (and Aries point), signaling a new phase in life.

At first glance of the tertiary progressions around the natal chart of Subject A, one thing immediately catches our attention: the progressed Sun conjunct the Midheaven. It would be hard to avoid public attention under this aspect, which arrived courtesy of the 5th house of risks and gambles, ruled by the Sun.
  • The Sun also sextiled natal Venus, ruler of the 2nd house of money in the 11th house of lucky breaks.
  • In addition, it trined natal Saturn, ruler of the Midheaven.
  • It squared the natal Vertex date with destiny that was exactly (to the minute!) conjunct the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 12 Libra 32.
  • Finally, it squared natal Neptune, which may or may not have relevance, as Neptune neither occupied nor ruled a winning house. We’ll wait and see.

For being the most fortunate of all the winners I used for this study, it’s unfortunate that we must begin our examination of tertiary progressions with a chart that’s “all over the map.” There were so many winning aspects that they aren’t limited to the winning houses or rulers.

Mars was the chart ruler because Aries was on the Ascendant. It also co-ruled the 8th house of lotteries. Tertiary Mars opposed the Ascendant, but not tightly, and made an inconjunct (adjustment) to the natal Mercury, which sat at the cusp of the 2nd house of money.

Venus ruled the 2nd house of money. Tertiary Venus was in the 8th house of lotteries, where it pulled natal Transpluto of payoffs into a grand trine with the natal North Node.

Pluto, co-ruler of the 8th house of lotteries where Scorpio was on the cusp, was just inside the cusp of the 5th house of risks and gambles where it squared natal Mercury and trined natal Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rewards, just a degree past the 8th house cusp.
  • Tertiary Mercury conjuncted natal Chiron.
  • The tertiary Part of Fortune conjuncted natal Pluto.

The 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks was co-ruled by Saturn and Uranus.

Tertiary Saturn:
  • Squared the Midheaven, which it ruled.
  • Conjuncted the Vertex, Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 12 Libra 32, and natal Neptune.
  • Sextiled natal Pluto, the co-ruler of the 8th house of lotteries.

Tertiary Uranus:

  • Squared the natal Vertex, Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 12 Libra 32, and Neptune.
  • Inconjuncted the natal Part of Fortune in the 10th house of public attention.

We’ve located all the ruling planets of winning houses, but there are still plenty of lucky aspects to go.
  • Tertiary Jupiter conjuncted the natal North Node.
  • Tertiary North Node conjuncted natal Jupiter.
  • The tertiary Moon’s Nodes sextiled and trined the natal Ascendant / Descendant axis.
  • The tertiary conjunction of Venus and the Ascendant trined and sextiled the natal Nodes.
  • Tertiary Chiron of triumphant ascendancy squared the natal Nodes.
  • The tertiary Vertex date with destiny conjuncted the natal Moon and trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.
  • Tertiary Transpluto conjuncted its own natal position.
  • The tertiary Midheaven squared natal Uranus, co-ruler of the 11th house of lucky breaks and opposed the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.
  • The tertiary East Point, which captures the public's imagination was only four minutes from an exact trine to the natal Ascendant and squared the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.

Now in the transits to the tertiary chart below:

Comparing the transits to the tertiary chart of Subject A, we begin with a conjunction of the transiting Vertex date with destiny and transiting Pluto, planet of wealth, both conjunct tertiary Venus, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. In turn, transiting Venus conjuncted the Midheaven of public attention. Pluto and the Vertex also squared the Moon’s Nodes, the markers of milestones and turning points.

Transiting Jupiter, the chart ruler because Sagittarius was rising, conjuncted the tertiary Sun at the cusp of the 2nd house of money, opposed tertiary Uranus, squared tertiary Saturn, ruler of the 2nd house of money and resources, and squared the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 12 Libra 32.

Transiting Saturn, ruler of the 2nd, was angular, just over the cusp of the 4th house, where it was 4 degrees and 44 minutes from a conjunction to Jupiter, the chart ruler. It also trined tertiary Venus, ruler of the 11th house of lucky breaks, at the Ascendant.

Transiting Mars ruled the 5th house of risks and gambles. It conjuncted the tertiary South Node and directed public attention to the winner through a trine to the tertiary East Point in the 1st house.

The Moon ruled the 8th house. The transiting Moon conjuncted the tertiary Moon in the 5th house of risks and gambles. Planets that return to natal or progressed places are important, so always watch for them. The transiting Ascendant, which signaled “ You. Here. Now,” conjuncted the 8th house cusp of lotteries.

We’ve already found transiting Venus, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, conjunct the tertiary Midheaven of public notice.

Transiting Uranus trined the tertiary Midheaven from the 2nd house of money.

The transiting Moon’s Nodes, harbingers of turning points and milestones in life, squared tertiary Chiron, of rewards and crowning achievements, and the South Node conjuncted tertiary Jupiter, the chart ruler. Once again we see the South Node assisting—the exact opposite of what we’ve come to expect from it in every other type of astrology.

Transiting Chiron, of rare opportunities and crowning achievements, conjuncted tertiary Neptune, and transiting Neptune trined the Midheaven. Neptune also opposed the tertiary Vertex date with destiny in the 8th house of lotteries, squared tertiary Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, and sextiled the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 27 Pisces 28.

Transiting Transpluto of payoffs sextiled tertiary Mars, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles.

The transiting Part of Fortune in the 2nd house of money trined the tertiary lunar return, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, in the 5th house of risks and gambles.
