Subject G Tertiary Progressions

In the tertiary progressed chart for Subject G, winner of $50,000, the Moon’s South Node and the Part of Fortune were rising. They trined Venus, the chart ruler and ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, in the 8th house. The 8th house cusp conjuncted the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45. Venus sextiled the North Node conjunction with Mars, co-ruler of the 2nd house of money. Notice that Venus was only two minutes away from 00 Gemini 00.

  • It would then sextile the Moon, ruler of the Midheaven.
  • Trine Saturn, co-ruler of the 5th house, at the cusp of the 5th house.
  • Eventually sextile Jupiter.
The other co-ruler of the 2nd house, Pluto, squared Uranus, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles. Uranus conjuncted the Vertex date with destiny.

The Sun, also conjunct the Vertex, ruled the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, and had just passed a trine to Jupiter in the 11th house.

Neptune, in the 11th house of lucky breaks, trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45 just inside the cusp of the 8th house of lotteries.

The Moon, ruler of the Midheaven, conjuncted the Descendant and Mars, co-ruler of the 2nd house of money, and sextiled Venus, the chart ruler and ruler of the 8th house of lotteries. It also sextiled Saturn at the cusp of the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Comparing the tertiary progressions to the natal chart of Subject G, we find nothing conjunct the Ascendant or Midheaven, but let’s prepare for multiple house rulers because the 2nd and 8th houses of money hold interceptions.

Capricorn rose on the natal Ascendant, and tertiary Saturn is in the “rising planet that isn’t” position. By that I mean it's the closest planet to the Ascendant, but is read in a counterclockwise direction. It's the chart ruler.
  • Saturn trined natal Venus in the 8th house of lotteries.
  • Saturn sextiled the conjunction of tertiary Mars and the tertiary Moon. Together, the three made inconjunct aspects to Neptune in the 8th house of lotteries, forming a yod, otherwise known as the hand of God or finger of fate. Neptune ruled Pisces, intercepted in the 2nd house of money.
  • Saturn co-ruled the 2nd house of money with Uranus, Neptune and Jupiter.

Tertiary Uranus (shocks, surprises, changes in fortune) squared Pluto, co-ruler of the Midheaven. It’s normal to find the outer planets near their natal positions in tertiary progressions. After all, the month of life represented here was equivalent to the planetary positions 604 days after Subject G’s birth. That’s less than two years, and Pluto only moves two or three degrees per year. However, this tertiary position of Pluto was a return. It’s only two minutes from its natal position. Pluto was angular, and therefore, strong. It sextiled natal Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rewards, also angular at the cusp of the Nadir, and squared the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35.

Neptune was the third ruler of the 2nd house of money. Tertiary Neptune occupied the 8th house, in trine to Saturn, chart ruler and co-ruler of the 2nd, and opposed the Moon which occupied the 2nd. It also trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45.

Jupiter, the ancient ruler of Pisces, was the fourth ruler of the 2nd house, and also the ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. Tertiary Jupiter, which applied to a conjunction with the Sun, trined natal Uranus.

Mercury ruled the 5th house of risks and gambles with Gemini on the cusp, and Virgo, which was intercepted in the 8th house of lotteries. Tertiary Mercury conjuncted the natal North Node, squared the angular Transpluto of payoffs, trined the natal Vertex date with destiny at the cusp of the 8th house, and opposed the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35.

Leo was on the cusp of the 8th house, making the Sun a co-ruler. The tertiary Sun; tertiary Vertex date with destiny; tertiary Uranus, ruler of the 2nd house; and tertiary Mercury, ruler of the 5th and 8th houses, comprised a stellium in Aries that squared an angular natal Pluto, a co-ruler of the Midheaven, and trined the Sun’s natal place at 17 Leo. Even though it was retrograde, Mercury, the outside planet of the stellium, was still trine the natal Vertex at the cusp of the 8th house of lotteries.

We haven’t paid any attention to tertiary Venus because it neither occupied nor ruled a winning house. However, it was Venus, and Venus rarely hurts a situation. Here it sweetened the pot by making an out-of-sign trine with its own natal position in the 8th house of lotteries, and squared natal Neptune in the 8th, a co-ruler of the 2nd.

The tertiary South Node conjuncted the tertiary Part of Fortune and sextiled the natal Transpluto of payoffs, which of course, the North Node trined.

Both tertiary Chiron of triumphant ascendancy, and tertiary Transpluto of payoffs, conjunct their natal places, nothing unusual about that, but Transpluto squared the natal Moon’s Nodes, and that was significant. A large payoff marked a milestone or turning point in life.

The tertiary Ascendant and East Point were conjunct each other, and made a number of aspects to the natal chart:
  • They squared natal Saturn, the chart ruler.
  • They squared natal Jupiter, ruler of the 11th house of lucky breaks, and co-ruler of the 2nd house of money.
  • They sextiled the natal Part of Fortune.
And finally, the tertiary Midheaven sextiled the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45, and conjuncted natal Jupiter, planet of bigger, better and more for the win.

In the transits to the tertiary progressions of Subject G, first, let’s recall that the cusp of the 8th house of lotteries conjuncted the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45.

There was a cluster of conjunctions across the Ascendant / Descendant axis. It’s hard to know where to begin.

  • Let’s go with Pluto, planet of plutocracy. In addition to the Ascendant, transiting Pluto conjuncted the tertiary East Point, which attracted public attention.
  • The transiting Sun conjuncted the tertiary Part of Fortune and tertiary South Node at the Ascendant.
  • And then there was the transiting Vertex date with destiny that conjuncted the Ascendant and tertiary South Node, and trined tertiary Saturn at the cusp of the 5th house of risks and gambles.
  • The transiting East Point, one of those points in a chart which move so quickly that they can be used as timers (like a spinning roulette ball that drops into just the right slot), conjuncted the tertiary Moon at the Descendant. The Moon ruled the Midheaven, so here we are again showing what a lot of public interest and attention looks like in a chart.
  • The transiting East Point also conjuncted tertiary Mars, co-ruler of the 2nd house of money.
  • The transiting Ascendant, one of the “You. Here. Now.” symbols in transits, opposed the tertiary Ascendant by only five minutes.

Transiting Mars, co-ruler of the 2nd house of money, sextiled the 7th house stellium consisting of the Sun, Vertex, Uranus and Mercury; the closest aspect being with Uranus, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles. It trined the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35.

The transiting Moon, ruler of the Midheaven, trined the Midheaven, opposed tertiary Neptune in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, and sextiled the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45.

Transiting Mercury, in conjunction with the transiting Part of Fortune in the 1st house, conjuncted the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35. They also opposed the tertiary Mercury in the 7th house, which was conjuncted by transiting Jupiter, which also conjuncted tertiary Uranus, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles. Even if Uranus hadn’t ruled a winning house, Jupiter and Uranus in conjunction are almost always fortunate. Jupiter also opposed the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35. Time-wise, it hadn’t been all that long since Jupiter conjuncted the tertiary Sun and Vertex, aspects that would have made Subject G feel optimistic and lucky. Mercury didn’t rule any winning houses, so it may be the conjunction to the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse that made it so important here.

The transiting North Node, in the 2nd house of money, trined the tertiary North Node in the 6th house. The transiting South Node in the 8th house of lotteries trined the tertiary South Node, as well as the conjunction of the transiting Sun to the tertiary Part of Fortune.

Transiting Uranus at 00 Scorpio 33, made an inconjunct aspect to tertiary Venus, which was only two minutes from being at 00 Gemini 00. Uranus ruled the 5th house of risks and gambles, and Venus was the chart ruler and ruler of the 8th house of lotteries.
  • Uranus further squared Saturn, its co-ruler of the 5th house.
  • Transiting Saturn, co-ruler of risks and gambles, conjuncted tertiary Transpluto and sextiled tertiary Venus.
  • Transiting Venus, chart ruler and ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, trined tertiary Mercury, squared its own tertiary place in the 8th house, and sextiled the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35.

Transiting Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy and rare opportunities, squared tertiary Transpluto of payoffs in the 10th house of public reputation by only three minutes.

Did transiting Transpluto, which moves at glacial speed, still conjunct tertiary Jupiter in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks? Whether or not it did, it certainly trined the tertiary Sun, ruler of the 11th house; the Vertex date with destiny; and Uranus, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles.

The transiting Midheaven opposed the tertiary Midheaven, and squared the tertiary Moon, ruler of the Midheaven.
