Subject F Secondary Progressions

How unfortunate are people born with Saturn on the Ascendant? This “unfortunate.” The secondary progressed chart of Subject F is one that drops our jaw with the beauty of its synchronicity.

Transpluto, hypothetical planet of payoffs, conjuncted the Ascendant. It was flanked by the North Node on one side, and Mars, ruler of the Midheaven and co-ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, on the other. Mars was only eleven minutes from an exact opposition with the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 04 Aquarius 33, and squared the Part of Fortune in a money sign. It conjuncted Pluto, its co-ruler of the 5th house and planet of enormous odds, total transformation and plutocracy.

Although not conjunct, Pluto was followed by Jupiter, planet of bigger, better and more, which conjuncted the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 19 Leo 21 and trined the Midheaven. And we’ve only just begun.

The progressed Sun, in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, was chart ruler (Leo rising), and ruler of the second house of money. It conjuncted Uranus, planet of the sudden and unexpected, ruler of the Descendant and 8th house of lotteries, and together, they squared Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rewards, and the progressed Moon in the 2nd house of money.

Just like that—one, two, three—we’ve covered three of the four winning houses. Before moving on to the last, we might throw in the fact that the progressed Vertex date with destiny in the 5th house of risk and gambles pulled the Midheaven, Jupiter and the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 19 Leo into a Grand Trine.

The last winning house, the 11th of plot twists and lucky breaks, contained its own ruler, Venus, and a conjunction of the two rulers of the money houses (the Sun ruled the 2nd house of money and Uranus ruled the 8th house of lotteries). Venus, in mutual reception with Mercury in the 10th house, sextiled Transpluto of payoffs, the Ascendant and Mars, and trined Neptune (Is this real?) in the 3rd house of the rational mind. Just for fun, go back up and find the cusp of the progressed 8th house of lotteries. Now find that degree in the natal chart of Subject F.

Saturn, an outer planet that never progresses far from its natal place, still conjuncted the natal Ascendant, but made a much tighter trine with the natal Midheaven. It ruled the natal 8th house of lotteries.

The progressed Ascendant, and the stellium of planets surrounding it in the progressed chart, came to occupy the natal 2nd house of money. Because most were outer planets, they still conjuncted their natal places. The Ascendant continued to conjunct natal Transpluto of payoffs because Transpluto had only moved by a few minutes, but the Ascendant had progressed to conjunct the natal North Node, the birth position being 2 Leo 56.

Progressed Jupiter conjuncted the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 19 Leo 21.

The progressed Sun / Uranus conjunction at 8 Gemini opposed the natal Moon at 7 Sagittarius. The Moon ruled the natal 2nd house of money. The progressed Moon trined natal Mercury, the natal chart ruler, in the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

Progressed Venus, ruler of the natal 5th house of risks and gambles, conjuncted the natal East Point, which drew public notice and captured their imagination. It sextiled its own place in the natal 10th house, and trined natal Neptune, a co-ruler of the Midheaven because Pisces was intercepted in the 10th.

Saturn, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, and Mars, ruler of the 11th house of lucky breaks, were previously covered.

The progressed Part of Fortune:
  • Trined natal Mars, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.
  • Squared the natal Transpluto/North Node/Pluto stellium.
  • Was separating from a square with the natal Moon’s Nodes in the money houses.
  • Squared the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 04 Aquarius 33.

The progressed Ascendant:
  • Conjuncted the natal Transpluto/North Node/Pluto stellium.
  • Trined natal Venus, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles.
  • Trined the natal Moon, ruler of the 2nd house of money.
  • Sextiled the natal East Point and Uranus, ruler of the Midheaven.
The progressed Midheaven conjuncted the natal Sun and trined natal Jupiter. The progressed Vertex at the Descendant also trined both, as well as the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 19 Leo 21.

Now the transits to the progressed chart:

When comparing the transits to the progressed chart of Subject F, we see the transiting Midheaven conjunct the progressed Midheaven, the transiting Ascendant conjunct the progressed Ascendant, the transiting East Point conjunct the progressed East Point and the transiting Vertex conjunct the progressed Vertex. Nine minutes added to the birth time would make all these aspects just minutes from partile. However, the harmonic chart for this subject proves his birth time to be correct.

The transiting Ascendant also conjuncted the progressed North Node, Transpluto of payoffs, and Mars, ruler of the Midheaven and co-ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles. It sextiled progressed Venus, which occupied and ruled the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks.

Moving on, we find transiting Chiron, of triumphant ascendancy, rewards and once-in-a-lifetime events, in the rising planet position. There’s an example of “Rising Planets That Aren’t,” explained in the Chapter titled Additional Lottery-Winning Considerations. Chiron’s influence on the winner is unmistakable. It sextiled the Sun and Uranus conjunction in the 11th house of lucky breaks. The Sun was both chart ruler and ruler of the 2nd house of money, while Uranus ruled the 8th house of lotteries. Transiting Transpluto of payoffs, also in the 1st house, squared the progressed Midheaven / Nadir axis of public vs. private matters. Still, while Transpluto is neither a planet, nor rising, its influence here seems obvious.

Jupiter, transiting through the 2nd house of money, conjuncted progressed Chiron of triumphant ascendance and once-in-a-lifetime events, and the progressed Moon.

The transiting Sun, which was chart ruler, and ruler of the 2nd house of money, activated the 5th house of risks and gambles from the cusp, where it sextiled and trined the progressed Moon’s Nodes. The rulers of the 5th house, transiting Mars and Pluto, also conjuncted the cusp of the 5th house, and squared progressed Jupiter in the 1st house of self and identity. Transiting the 5th house were Mercury and the Vertex date with destiny, which conjuncted each other as well as the progressed Vertex date with destiny. They also trined the Midheaven.

The ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, transiting Uranus, conjuncted the transiting North Node, and the two of them trined progressed Chiron and the progressed Moon in the 2nd house of money. The transiting Moon occupied the 8th house.

Venus ruled the 11th house of lucky breaks and plot twists. It was transiting through the 3rd house where it had recently conjuncted Neptune, maybe inducing some lovely fantasies about what it would be like to win the lottery. Or maybe receiving an intuitive suggestion, probably from an important female figure suggested by the Venus and Moon involvement, to buy a ticket. Nebulous Neptune in the 3rd house of communication suggests he might benefit from following his hunches. More importantly, Venus trined the Sun and Uranus conjunction, rulers of the 2nd house of money and 8th house of lotteries, in the 11th house. Venus was still within orb of sextiling Pluto, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles.

Any angular planet is important, and here we find transiting Saturn, co-ruler of the 8th house, conjunct the progressed Descendant and South Node, and in opposition to progressed Transpluto and Mars, ruler of the Midheaven and co-ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles. It closely trined progressed Venus and progressed Neptune.

Last but not least, we find the transiting Part of Fortune in trine to the progressed Ascendant.
