Being the winner of a mere $50,000 beats being the winner of nothing any day of the week. It might not make our dreams come true, but would we refuse it? It’s a car, the down payment on a house or a semester at college. It’s $50,000 we didn’t have the day before. Since there was nothing spectacular in this chart, no money houses crowded with stelliums, or angular Jupiter / Uranus conjunctions, let’s find out how we ordinary worker bees might also pad our pockets a little.
To begin, we find the South Node of the Moon conjunct the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35. Progressed Saturn trined the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45 in the 2nd house and the progressed Moon opposed it.
We see the progressed East Point of public attention conjunct the progressed Ascendant, the personal place that indicates “You. Here. Now.” It’s one of those fine-tuners that pointed to a narrow window of opportunity. Think of it as a flashing neon sign asking us to look further into the chart to find what could bring this public attention.
The progressed Moon was in mutual reception with progressed Pluto. The progressed Moon acted as a second hand on a watch, ticking off planets and activating various aspects as it circled the chart. In this chart, it sextiled Saturn in the 10th house of public persona. So there’s another indication that the public might be sitting up and taking notice. Saturn gives us pause because it’s so often thought of in negative ways (limitations, restrictions, delays, burdens, guilt, etc.) but we have to stop thinking of it that way. This Saturn wasn’t under fire. No other planets were attacking it. Here, it represented a window of opportunity via the Moon, ruler of the 5th house of risks and gambles, and was, itself, the ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. It also received an even bigger boost from Neptune, the chart ruler, in the form of a trine.
Here’s an obvious one: Venus trined Mars, which conjuncted Jupiter, which conjuncted Pluto, which made a wide conjunction to Transpluto of payoffs. Here we have two of the most fortunate aspects known in astrology—Mars conjunct Jupiter (bigger, better, more) and Jupiter conjunct Pluto—and the pot was sweetened by a trine from Venus, which occupied and ruled the 8th house of lotteries. And still further by the sextile from Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rewards. Chiron occupied the 2nd house of money, which Mars ruled. Jupiter (bigger, better, more) ruled the Midheaven. Pluto only ruled the 9th, not a winning house, but Transpluto lit up the 5th house of risks and gambles from the cusp, where it also trined the Ascendant and East Point.
The Part of Fortune fell just inside the cusp of the 2nd house of money and made a trine to Saturn in the 10th, ruler of the 11th house of twists of fate and changes of fortune. The Sun conjuncted the Vertex, which conjuncted Mercury, ruler of the other two angles—the 7th and 4th—and the Moon’s Nodes, which spanned the cusps of the money houses.
Subject G’s progressed chart clearly had many winning aspects, but when compared to the natal chart, the planets in aspect didn’t occupy and rule the houses we expect them to, and that may be why “G” didn’t win the really big bucks the others won. It also provides an example of how we still might win even when the planets don’t line up the way we wish they would. It may also be that his birth time needs a small adjustment. Any birth time rounded to the exact hour or half hour is suspect and should be rectified.
For the sake of consistency, let’s begin with Saturn, the chart ruler. Being an outer planet, and due to its retrograde cycle, progressed Saturn hadn’t moved far from its natal position where it sextiled the natal Moon in the 2nd house of money. It co-ruled the 2nd house along with Uranus. Uranus was another outer planet that hadn’t moved far from its place of birth. It made a wide sextile to natal Mars which occupied the 5th house of risks and gambles. Mars co-ruled the Scorpio Midheaven. Uranus also made a wide trine to the natal Sun, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries.
Neptune was the third co-ruler of the 2nd house of money where Pisces was intercepted. Progressed Neptune, which occupied the 8th house of lotteries, trined Saturn, the chart ruler, and opposed the natal Moon in the 2nd house. The progressed Part of Fortune trined natal Neptune.
Mercury ruled the 5th house of risks and gambles, and co-ruled the 8th house where Virgo was intercepted. The closest aspects it would (eventually) make were a trine to the natal Ascendant, still a few years away, and a sextile to Transpluto of payoffs, from which it was actually moving away in retrograde motion. Progressed Mercury was no help at all.
Jupiter (bigger, better, more) ruled the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. Progressed Mars, co-ruler of the Midheaven, conjuncted progressed Jupiter, which is a very fortunate aspect in and of itself. Together, they conjuncted natal Pluto, the other co-ruler of the Midheaven, and trined the Midheaven, as well. In addition, they squared natal Uranus, ruler of the 2nd house of money, and sextiled Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rewards.
So there we have the aspects from the rulers of the winning houses, but there was still more that contributed to the win.
The progressed Moon was a busy bee. It sextiled natal Saturn, natal chart ruler, and also co-ruler of the natal 2nd house of money where Aquarius was on the cusp. Separating from a trine to its own natal position in the 2nd house of money, the Moon opposed the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45, trined natal Jupiter, ruler of the 11th house of lucky breaks, and squared the natal Part of Fortune.
Another thing to watch for are planets that, while not in mutual reception, reciprocate in other ways. Here the progressed Venus squared the natal Sun, ruler of the 8th house of lotteries, while the progressed Sun conjuncted natal Venus, which occupied the 8th house. Venus at the Midheaven almost always indicates vacation and leisure time, indulgences, and public celebrations. Venus also trined Pluto, co-ruler of the Midheaven, and opposed Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and rewards.
The progressed South Node conjuncted the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35.
Here are a few things that we did not find:
- There were no aspects from the Moon’s Nodes that we would consider milestones or turning points in life.
- We saw no Pluto conjunctions that would transform the life.
- We saw no aspects to or from the ruler of the 5th house or intercepted 8th house.
So there were enough aspects to win some nice money, but not enough to be life altering.
There’s less flow and harmony in this chart than in the previous ones. What first catches our eye in the comparison of transits to the progressed chart of Subject G was the transiting Midheaven, a fine-tuner of timing, conjunct the progressed Saturn in the 10th house. Saturn ruled the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. The transiting Ascendant squared it.
Let’s find the progressed chart ruler, Neptune. Transiting Neptune was in the 9th house, which was no help, but it did make a wide trine to progressed Uranus in the 1st house. Uranus did not rule a winning house. However, transiting Neptune was in a sextile with transiting Pluto, planet of wealth and transformation, and both made an inconjunct to the Prenatal Solar Eclipse at 07 Taurus 45 in the 2nd house of money, putting it at the apex of a yod—the hand of God or finger of fate.
Mars ruled the 2nd house of money, and applied to a trine with the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 25, and progressed South Node at 23 Libra. Transiting Mercury and the transiting Part of Fortune also conjuncted the South Node and prenatal eclipse.
Returning to the 2nd house, we note that Jupiter, ruler of the Midheaven and ancient ruler of the Ascendant, conjuncted the progressed North Node, still in the 1st house, but near the cusp of the 2nd. The progressed Moon’s Nodes activated the 2nd and 8th house cusps from their positions across that axis. Just as importantly, Chiron of triumphant ascendancy and once-in-a-lifetime events, just inside the cusp of the 2nd, conjuncted the progressed Part of Fortune. The transiting South Node, still in the 2nd house but nearing the 3rd, made a trine to the angular progressed Mercury at the Descendant.
The Moon ruled the 5th house of risks and gambles. The transiting Moon occupied the 12th house of other realms, where it separated from a trine to its own progressed position in the 8th house of lotteries. Just inside the cusp of the 5th house, transiting Saturn, ruler of the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks, conjuncted Transpluto of payoffs. Transiting Saturn also sextiled the natal Sun and squared the progressed Part of Fortune in the 2nd house of money.
Venus ruled the 8th house of lotteries and transited the 5th house of risks and gambles. Just leaving the 5th house, it trined the progressed Midheaven, as well as the progressed North Node near the cusp of the 2nd house, where transiting Jupiter (bigger, better, more) conjuncted it. This was a reminder that any time we see good aspects to Jupiter in the daily transits, we should check to see where it lands in our natal and progressed charts (as well as all the other charts we’ll cover). Because the Nodes were involved, we remember to check the other end of the nodal axis, where Venus sextiled the South Node and the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35.
Saturn ruled the 11th house of plot twists and lucky breaks. We have already found it in the 5th house with Transpluto, so let’s sweep the children off the streets now.
Transpluto of payoffs, transiting through the 5th house of risks and gambles, squared progressed Venus, occupying and ruling the 8th house of lotteries. Although Transpluto was incredibly slow, it might still have been in trine to Uranus in the 1st house, which did not rule a winning house, but still presents a pleasant surprise. Also, transiting Uranus shook up the 8th house of lotteries with its entrance over the cusp, where it opposed the progressed Part of Fortune in the 2nd house of money.
The transiting Vertex date with destiny conjuncted the angular progressed Sun.
Because it’s so often found to make or receive important aspects in winning charts, let’s note that Pluto neither transited, occupied, nor ruled a winning house. The only help it provided came from being part of the winning stellium of Jupiter, Mars and Transpluto in the progressions. Should we count transiting Pluto’s waning square to progressed Saturn in the 10th house? We could, but since both planets move slower than a drifting rowboat, at three degrees and separating, the question becomes should we? A rule of thumb is that the slower the planet, the longer its reach. We often see hard aspects between Pluto and Saturn, which we know to be some of the most difficult energies we must endure in life, so how do we reconcile that with winning? It is said that it’s always darkest before the dawn. We don’t know what the winners’ lives were like before the win, what illnesses they may be fighting, or what desperate conditions they may have overcome. Not very long ago, I heard on the news about Donald Savastano, who won a million dollars from a scratch-off, and was finally able to go to the doctor where he learned he had stage four cancer, and passed away three weeks later. It’s probably a cosmic rule that the more disadvantaged we are, the more likely we are to play the lottery.
Moving on, the transiting Part of Fortune conjuncted the Prenatal Lunar Eclipse at 22 Libra 35, and the progressed South Node, which was fairly close to the cusp of the 8th house of lotteries.
To wrap up, unless we find better and more aspects in the other progressed or harmonic charts of Subject G, we can say the $50,000 jackpot was won mostly through the progressed stellium of well-established winners Mars, Jupiter, Pluto and Transpluto trined by the progressed Venus, and the reciprocity between Venus and the Sun.
